The Thomas and Sarah (Blue) Norton lineage here is a result of many years of researching, talking with family members and digging through the Rowland and Lumberton NC resources. Most of what is presented here is from our father, William Edmond Norton, Sr. He left wonderful biographical short stories of his youth and growing up in Rowland. His grandfather's death certificate (William Thomas Norton) led us back to Richmond County by telling his birth date/place as well as who his parents were. William Edmond Sr. had also told us his family came from Richmond/Scotland Counties. As with all genealogy research, this is a work in progress.
Recent findings in the Stewartsville District/Richmond County 1850 Census revealed the family of William Thomas Norton's wife (Sarah Catherine Platt). The fact her father was Ansel Platt made Myrtle N. Bridges and myself wonder if William Ansel was misplaced as a child of Thomas Norton and Sarah Blue, and actually was the son of William Thomas Norton and his wife Sarah. The difference in birth dates, that Sarah's father was Ansel and the naming pattern would apply here and lastly William Edmond Sr. always referred to William Ansel as his uncle are our supporting arguement. We, of course, are looking for the proof in legal certificates but for now this ** area will indicate assumption.
