Contact: Myrtle Bridges
Relatives in this community have received the distressing information of the drowning a few days ago of conductor Walter L. Wishart,
which occurred at Manderville, LA, while in bathing with a party of friends.
He had been assigned the duty of taking an excursion train from Covington to Manderville, and while, there with the excursionists
lost his life, as above stated. Mr. Wishart was a native of this State having been raised at Rockingham, Richmond county, North Carolina
from which place he went to New Orleans about five years ago. He has lived there ever since. He was about 26 years of age, and was married
last winter to Miss Eleanor Tuxbury, of Manderville.
Wishart is survived by his young wife, his widowed mother and an only sister, and many relatives and friends in this section where his father,
the late Giles E. Wishart, was raised.

Myrtle, I visit your Richmond County NC site often and can always find something new. It is by far the best genweb site I visit.
Tonight I ran across the above article that was added in Jan of this year to your RC site. Walter Wishart was the brother of Annabelle Wishart
Lane. She was a nationally well known genealogist during the 40,50, and 60's. You can find her work in the Libraries at UNC, Ncsu, and Duke
Libraries. Her mother was Margret Goodman. Here is some information on her. Her notes ect are viewable on line from the UNC WilsonLibrary.
MARGARET MCRAINEY3 GOODMAN (ALFRED JAMES2, JAMES1) was born May 04, 1853 in Cumberland Co, NC, and died November 11, 1914 in Lake Charles, LA.
She married GILES ELI WISHART April 08, 1880 in Pee Dee, NC. He was born July 17, 1857 in Robeson Co, NC, and died April 17,1890 in Richmond Co.,
NC. Buried Eastside Cemetery Rockingham, NC
The Wishart family is well known in Robeson county for its battle with the famous Lowery gang. Annabelle did a lot of work on a book that was
published by a professor Evans at Cal Polly Tech. In Cal. He is in his 90 and is professor emeritus at Cal Polly. I have tried to contact him
but get no return on my emails. I have reached out to other members of the family that live in NC but get no response.
The thing I wanted to point out is the Wishart families Connection to the Goodman Family in Richmond County. Walter L Wishart's grandfather is
the great great grandfather of the Goodman family in Richmond County. This is John Lawrence Goodman's family which included Sheriff RW. Goodman.
I feel certain you have run across some of Annabelle's work in the Cumberland Richmond, and Robeson county area. Ron Goodman
