This Indenture made the twentieth day of April in
the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred &
seventy six between John Huddleston of the County of
Tryon provence of North Carolina of one part and
John Battles of the County of Dupesc?? O provance of
Virginia of the other part, Witnesseth that for & in
consideration of the sum of Thirt pounds
proclamation money to the said John Huddleston in
hand paid by the said John Battles at & before the
sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt &
payment whreof is hereby acknowledged hath granted
bargained & sold aliened En??corfed conv///ied &
confirmed these presents doth grant bargain sell
alien enfeoff convey & confirm unto the said John
Battles his heirs & assigns for ever a piece or
parcel containing by estimation one hundred & fifty
acres be the same more or less situate lying & being
in the Count of Tryon & provance of North Carolina
on Second Broad River & bounded as follows: Viz
Beginning David Huddleston corner red oak thence
N46W 160 poles to a pine thence S44W 160 poles to a
white oak thence S52e 104 poles to a red oak in
David Huddleston line N64E 160 poles to the
beginning with the appurtainances situate lying &
being as aforesaid with their & every of their
rights members & appurtainances whatsoever & the
reversion & reversions remainder & remainders of all
& singular the Lands & Tenements heridatanments
hereby granted & even part or parcel thereof & all
rents ?? services & profits to them or any of them
or any part or parcel of them. Incident belonging or
appertainance & also all & every the estate &
estates titles claims in?? & demands whatsoever of
him the said John Huddleston of or into the said
land tenements hereidatinments & premises whatsoever
hereby granted as mentioned to be granted or any of
them or any part or parcel thereof to have & to hold
the said lands tenements herridatements & premices
hereby granted with their appurtainances to the said
John Battles his heirs & assigns for ever & the said
John Battles his heirs & assigns against all lawful
claims & demands whatsoever whereby the above
mentioned premices might or may be effected contrary
to the true intent & meaning of these presents. In
witness whereof the said John Huddleston have set
his hand & seal the day & year first above written
