The Brinson Genealogy book “Here, There and Yonder” sub titled Cason & Sons, 

A Brinson Genealogy by Robert W Brinson has been reprinted and I received them 
from the publisher today. The books look great. They are hard covered.  The books 
are a direct reprint with no updates.  The book has 900 pages.

Thomas Brinson came to America in the mid to early 1600s.  This book mainly tracks 
the descendents of his second son.  Some Brinson’s were among the first American
families to enter Texas are also tracked by the book.

The books are for sale and are priced at $30.00 for local sales when the buyer picks 
up the book in New Bern, NC.  If I package and ship the books they will be $40.00 
postage paid.  I will require payment by certified check or money order in advance.

WEST and Gibson WEST, Sr. who migrated to GA from 1820-1840 and lived there
until their deaths.
James WEST, the progenitor; and all his children alive 1828 are identified in this book. 
Included are names of spouses for most of his children. Send an email
request and I will provide names of James' children. 
There are 171 pages in the book; chapters are indexed but timelines are
not indexed.
Cost of the book is forty dollars with shipping and handling included. A tracking number is also 
used to prevent loss in the mail.

  • The Heritage of Sampson County by Oscar M. Bizzell and Virginia L. Bizzell, editors, 786 pages on archival paper. Contains sections on local history, family histories and pictorial honor pages. This fine book was the centerpiece of Sampson's 200th birthday celebration in 1984.

 

  • Sampson County Court Minutes, 1784-1800 compiled and edited by Oscar M. & Virginia L. Bizzell. Contains 317 pages on acid free (long life) paper. During the early days of independence, there was no newspaper coverage here, but the early court minutes read like one. They listed the county justices, sheriff, clerk of court, constables and patrols f or the various districts, jurymen, overseers of the various roads leading to every part of the county, wills submitted f or probate, items contained in the estate and their value, proof of deeds to be recorded, approximate age of many persons, illegitimate children, orphans, guardians, insolvents, attorneys, legal cases that went to court and the verdict, name and value of slaves, free negroes, and many other such records not available elsewhere. Price is $38.

Slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, and they are listed f or the first time. This book is alphabetized for easy use, to show the house ancl family number, post office, township, name, age, sex, race and occupation. Lists persons married within the year and the month in which babies were born. The mortality section names persons who died during the one year ending 1 June 1870, age, sex, color, married or widowed, place of birth, month died, occupation, cause of death, family number and township.   • The Five Civilized Indian Tribes of Eastern North Carolina by C.D. Brewington, a distinguished Indian native of Sampson County. This 2nd printing is edited and supplemented by Oscar M. Bizzell, and placed on file at the Library of Congress under Number 94-065035. A concise but true story of the historical facts about these Indians whose descendants are still here. Presents evidence of their intermarriage and life with the Whites from Sir Walter Raleigh's Lost Colony. Contains 50 pages printed on acid f ree paper. Price is $7.


  • Hollerin' Revived At Spivey's Corner by Ermon H. Godwin and Oscar M. Bizzell, 80 pages. Hollerin' - not to be confused with hollering or hog callingis the oldest form of comanunication known to man. But it was almost a lost art when banker Ermon Godwin and radioman John G. Thomas conceived the idea of a national hollerin' contest at Spivey's Corner, Sampson County, N.C. It isn't likely that either Ermon or John even dreamed the event would ever reach the size and fame it has. The 25th anniversary contest was held June 1993, and a book written to describe the first 25 years. Price is $6.
