There are no known marriage records for Stanly County before 1851. From 1851 to 1867 a marriage register was kept that listed the bride, groom, justice of the peace or minister, and a date. After 1867 marriage licenses were issued and they listed the parents of the bride and groom. Black marriages were recorded separately.<\/span><\/p>\n
