Green |
01 Nov 2007 |
I'm trying to gather information concerning my gggggrandfather Shadrack Green Jr. born abt. 1760. My Green family was in NC in the late 1700's and married into many of the families in the area at the time, Dycus, Jones, Owens, McKinney, Bandy, Philbeck and others. I've hit a wall with the details of birth of Shadrack Jr and his father Shadrack Sr. So any information or thoughts on avenues to explore would be appreciated.
Hope |
23 Aug 2007 |
I am searching for the parents of G. Caleb H. Hope. He was born in 1819 NC. The county could be Lincoln, Tryon, Gaston, or any NC County. The DNA says he isn't from the Scottish Clans. I am looking closely at Henry Hope, Christian Hope, William Hope (Gaston County). Caleb named his first son James - 2nd son was Edward/Evard/Everett with an H middle initial for 2 other sons - first daughter was Mary E. I'm grasping at straws after a dozen years....can anyone help ? recognize this family? Please !

Lampkin |
03 Aug 2008 |
William Lampkin died in Tryon County in 1774. George
Lampkin was sheriff of Tryon in 1772, and Samuel Lampkin was one of the
men appointed to survey the new county boundaries when Tryon was
abolished in 1778/79. Who were these Lampkins? How were they related?
And what happened to George and Samuel after Tryon? If anyone has
information I would certainly appreciate it.

Mauney, Mooney |
01 Nov 2007 |
I am searching for the parents of Mary Jane
Mauney/Mooney.
Facts known:
She married John Monroe Piercy in Lincoln County, NC Dec.
1876. She lived after her marriage in Lincoln and Catawba Counties. She
died and is buried at the Maiden City Cemetery. Death date November
1945. She may have been unable to read or write.
Items questionable or in doubt:
Her birthdate: Grave marker date: April 10, 1861
Marriage license date based on her age given on the license 1858.
Place of birth: Maybe Lincoln County.
Parents listed on marriage license: James Copeland and
Sarah Mauney both listed as deceased. No dates of death given.
Searches: Searches for either parent on census records,
death and cemetery records, marriage records in counties around the
Catawba, Lincoln county areas have drawn a blank. The only placed they
are listed is on the marriage license. Searches for Mary Jane Mauney
have been negative. Several girls of approximate age have been found
but the date of her marriage has ruled these out due to where they were
in 1876.
Rumors:
Mary Jane was abandoned at birth on a doorstep by
someone, somewhere. This unknown someone raised her. Mary Jane was
Cherokee or Catawba Indian. This is hard to believe since most of us are
fair skinned, light haired, freckled with blue, green or hazel eyes.
Photos;
I have the one known photo of her in her later years but
it doesn't give any clues of her ethnic origin. Her hair is parted in
the middle and severely pulled back. The one hand that can be seen
appears to have long tapered fingers.
Thanks to anyone who can offer any leads on the parents
of Mary Jane.
