Alexander, Joshua, 1785

Division of the estate of Joshua Alexander deceased on 29 Aug 1786 and returned by Francis Cummins in October Term 1786. After paying expenses, the balance remaining was 49 pounds & 16 shillings. This was split four ways among Thomas Mann, Ann Mead, the orphan of Benjamin Alexander & John Spooner.

Transcriber's Notes:
The will of Benjamin Alexander in 1784 identifies two sisters Christian Mann and Ann Bly. Christian Mann is further identified as the wife of Thomas Mann in his will in 1790. Benjamin Mead was appointed guardian to Joshua Alexander orphan of Benjamin Alexander in 1787, so he is probably the husband of Ann Mead. There is a John Spooner living in Edenton, Chowan County in the 1790 and 1800 Federal Census of North Carolina.
