January 15, 1818
In the name of God Amen, I Abner Alexander of the state of North Carolina in Tyrrell County being of sound mind and memory, blessed be God, do this fifteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say -
First I lend to my dearly beloved wife Silvia Alexander my plantation whereon I now live, during her natural I also lend her one negro man by the name of Peter, one negro woman by the name of Cloe, the elder and one negro woman by the name of Rose, one bed and furniture and all the chairs about my house, and all the kitchen furnitur, and one black walnut table, two pine tables, the fire dogs shovle and tongs, and one safe and large pine chest, and one handmill, one linen wheel, one woolen wheel, one ax, two hoes, one set of knives and forks, one cow, one sow and pigs and all the provisions on hand for the use of her and my family -
I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Edmond Alexander my plantation and all my land and swamp on the south side of the road to him and his heirs forever, I also give him one feather bed & furniture one large mahogany table and one horse to him and his heirs forever -
I give and bequeath to my well beloved son John Alexander the plantation whereon I now live with all the lands on the north side of the road to him and his heirs forever, only reserving the use of the same to his mother, as above, I also give him one feather bed and furniture, one horse, and one desk to him & his heirs forever -
I also give all my tooles of agriculture to be equally divided between my two sons Edmond & John Alexander -
I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Pamely Alexander one negro girl by the name of Lucy to her and her heirs forever, I also give her one feather bed and furniture -
I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Elizabeth Alexander one negro girl by the name Vina to her and her heirs forever, I also give her one feather bed & furniture, and fifty dollars to be paid to her by my executors in twelve months after my decese -
I give my loom and harness, and all my spinning wheels not other wise disposed of to be equally divided between my two daughters Pamely & Elizabeth Alexander I also give all my feather beds and furniture not already given in legacies, to be equally divided between my two daughters Pamely and Elizabeth -
I also give all my negroes not already given in legacies nor lent to my wife, to be equally divided between my four children already mentioned viz - Edmond, Pamely, Elizabeth and John at my son Johns ariving at the age of twenty one years - then I also leave to be divided equally between my four children before mentioned all the negroes lent to my wife with all their increase, and all the rest of the property lent to my wife at her death -
I also leave all my perishable estate not lent nor given in legacies to be sold at publick action at six months credit at my decese and the money arising from such sales, after paying all my just debts to be equally divided between my four children before mentioned in my wil -
My two fisheries the one situated and lying on the mouth of Frying Pan on Great Alligator River the other on Little Alligator Creek I leave to be sold at public auction for six months credit after being advertised six months at the following places viz at Tyrrel Court House, Washington Court House, Plymouth, and Edenton, and also advertised four weeks in some of the public prints, and I authorize my exeutors to make deeds in as full and ample a manner as I could myself if I was living and the money now arising from such sales to be equally divided between my four children already mentioned in my will -
And I hereby make and ordain my two well beloved sons Edmond and John Alexander, and my worthy friend Henry Alexander Junr. executors of this my will and testament in witness whereof I the said Abner Alexander have to this my last wil and testament set my hand and seal the day and date above written

April Session 1818
The last will and testament of Abner Alexander deceased was exhibited in open court & proved in open court by the oath of
Jeremiah Phelps and Peter Brickhouse of Caleb and ordered to be recorded.
Edmund Alexander, Jno. Alexander sons of Abner Alexander deceased & Henry Alexander Junr. qualified executors to the last will and testament of said deceased.
Ordered that the executors of Abner Alexander deceased have leave to sell the perishable estate of said deeased & make returns to next court.
The inventory and account of sales of the estate of Abner Alexander deceased was returned into court on oath by Edmund Alexander & Jno. Alexander executors of said deceased filed.
A surplus account of sales of the estate of Abner Alexander deceased was returned in open court on oath by Edmd. Alexander one of the executors of said deceased & filed.
January Session 1820
Ordered that Richd. Howett Mathew Brickhouse & Alfred Burges audite & settle the estate of Abner Alexander deceased with the executor & make report to the next term.
April Session 1820
Edmund Alexander one of the executors of Abner Alexander deceased returned the audited account of said deceased with a ballance due the heirs of said deceased of $175.29 & account filed.
July Session 1820
Ordered that Thomas Leigh Richard Howett & Matthew Brickhouse Senr. divide the negroes of Abner Alexander deceased agreeable to the last will & testament of said deceased & make report to the next term.
January Session 1831
Jos. Alexander returned the hire of the negroes of Abner Alexander for the year 1831 on oath.
