In the name of God amen- I John G. Alexander of the State of North Carolina, and County of Tyrrel do make, ordain, and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner, and form following-

Item- 1st- I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Ann C. Alexander negro woman Rose, and girl Mary, during her natural life; and at her death I give and bequeath to my son George W. Alexander, the said negro woman Rose, and girl Mary, and their increase to him and his heirs and assigns forever-

Item- 2nd. I leave negro woman Margaret, and her increase bound to pay the debt that my wife Ann C. Alexander was owing to Mary E. Mann, Daniel B. Mann, and Caroline S. Mann, at the time of our marriage; and then I give and bequeath the said negro woman Margaret and girl Emily and their increase to my beloved wife Ann C. Alexander, during her natural life, and at her death: I give and bequeath the said negro woman Margaret and girl Emily and their increase to Mary E. Mann, Daniel B. Mann, and Caroline S. Mann, to them, their heirs, and assigns forever-

Item- 3d- I leave my bay, mare and colt to be sold, and also the remainder of my crop, after a sufficiency to serve my family one year-

Item- 4th. My will and desire is after my funeral expenses, and just debts are paid all the remainder and residue of my property, and estate, not heretofore named in this will I give and bequeath to my wife Ann C. Alexander, during her natural life; and at her death to be sold, and the money to be equally divided between Mary E. Mann, Daniel B. Mann, Caroline S. Mann and George W. Alexander my son- I nominate and appoint my friend John Dunbar executor, and my wife Ann C. Alexander executrix, of this my last Will and Testament.-

In witness whereof I have this 12th day of October in the year of our Lord 1853 set my hand and seal and declared this to be my only and last Will and Testament.
