North Carolina In the name of God Amen: I Caroline B. Alexander, being of sound &
disposing mind & memory, do make this my last will and testament and.
First - I commend my spirit unto him who gave it, trusting that it will be
received in mercy: and I give my body to the earth, desiring my executor
hereinafter named to provide for it a Christian burial.
As to my worldly affairs, my will & desire are -That if Dr. Edward
Ransone my son-in-law shall faithfully pay a certain note for seven hundred
& sixty - six dollars given by him to me, as guardian of my children
Abner & Fanny Alexander, then my desire is that all my estate, after
all my debts are paid and all expenses deducted, shall be equally distributed
between my children Martha Simmons. Josephene Ransone, Abner Alexander &
Fanny Alexander, to them & their heirs forever. But if said Dr.
Ransone shall not pay the said note without giving my children trouble, then
my desire is that he & his wife shall receive no part of my estate beyond
seven hundred & sixty -six dollars, but that all the residue shall go to my
other children.
Secondly- I desire that Edmund C. Brabble shall be executor of this my
last testament & that he shall carry out all its provisions according to
their true intent

Caroline B. Alexander on the l3th February 1861, in the presence of
Charles Brickhouse Caroline B. her X mark Alexander
State of North Carolina On motion -a paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of
Caroline B. Alexander was propounded for probate by E. C. Brabble,
the executor therein named, and the due execution thereof being proved by the
oath of Russell Armstrong, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, the
same is admitted to probate & ordered to be recorded, and it is further
ordered that the executor therein named having now duly qualified, receive
letters testamentary from this court.
