Armistead, Robert, 1808


Undated promissory note to pay Robert Armistead one hundred and eight dollars in good merchantable cypress twenty two inch shingles delivered at Plymouth on or before August next with interest from the date. Signed by Frederick Arrenton, Asahel Deavenport, Isaac Davenport & Thomas Spruill and witnessed by James Hoskins. Note on reverse side acknowledges receipt in part on 12 July at Plymouth of thirteen thousand twenty two inch shingles from Asael Davenport

Summons dated the sixth Monday after the fourth Monday in September for Isaac Davenport & Nathan Spruill executor of Thomas Spruill to appear in court on the sixth Monday after the fourth Monday in March to answer unto John Armstead administrator of Robert Armstead deceased to a plea of covenant broken to the plaintiff's damage one hundred pounds.

Summons dated 8 May 1809 issued to the Coroner of Tyrrell County for James Hoskins to appear at court on the fourth Monday in September next and testify in behalf of John Armistead administrator of Robert Armistead deceased in a matter wherein John Armistead is plaintiff and Isaac Davenport and others are defendants.

Execution dated 9 May 1814 and issued 27 May 1814 against the goods & chattels, lands & tenements of Isaac Davenport & Nathan Spruill testator Thomas Spruill deceased for 56 pounds 6 shillings recovered against them by John Armistead administrator of Robert Armistead deceased for damages and costs and charges. Elsewhere it refers to Thomas Spruill as executor.

There are more executions in the estate file dealing with this same suit that have no apparent genealogical value.
