In the name of God amen: This 19th day of September 1807 the last will and testament of Mourning Arnold of the state of North Carolina Tyrell County being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following - First of all my just debts and funeral charges are to be paid of my estate I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Asia Arnold one cow and calf one feather bed & furniture to her & her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Amelia Arnold one cow and calf one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my beloved son Hesekiah Arnold one horse called Diver Bridle & Saddle one cow and calf and all the hogs that is now called his own also one negro boy slave named Mike. I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Benjamin Arnold one horse named Boult one cow and calf one heifer and all the hogs now called his own and one negro fellow named Castell. I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Sarah Star fifty dollars to be raised out of my estate to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath ot my beloved son Joseph Arnold one silver dollar to him and his heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved son William Arnold one silver dollar to him and his heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my grandaughter Anne Arnold one bed and furniture to her & her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my four daughters Prissy Nancy Asia & Amelia Arnold my two negroes Patience & Grace and their increase to be equally divided between them at my decease to them and their heirs forever. My farther will and desire is that all the residue of and remainder of my estate of every kind at my decease be equally divided among my six children to wit: Prissy Nancy Hesekiah Benjamin Asia and Amelia Arnold to them and their heirs forever ---
It is my farther will and desire and I hereby appoint my six children to wit: Prissy Nancy Hesekiah Benjamin Asia and Amelia Arnold my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke all former wills gifts or bequeaths by me made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written in the presence of us.

August Session 1808
Ordered that the last will and testament of Mourning Arnold deceased now in dispute be set for hearing tomorrough.
The last will and testament of Mourning Arnold was proved in open court by the oath of Charles Spruill and Darius Swain.
Hezekiah Arnold came into open court and qualified executor to the last will and testament of Mourning Arnold deceased.
Granted an order of sale of the chattel property of Mourning Arnold deceased.
November Session 1808
Asha Arnold and Amelia Arnold have leave to choose Benjamin Arnold their guardian and he has given bond in the sum of one thousand pounds William Spruill and Joseph Phelps his securities.
Hezekiah Arnold returned in court on oath the inventory of Mourning Arnold deceased also the account of sales of said deceased to the amount of 62 pounds, 17 shillings & 7 pence both filed.
Ordered that Elijah Warrington Zebulon Tarkinton Colo. and William Clow be appointed to audite and divide the estate of Joseph Arnold and Mourning Arnold and make return next court.
February Session 1809
Elijah Warrington Esqr. returned in court the division of the estate of Mourning Arnold deceased filed.
April Session 1811
Ordered that Zebulon Tarkinton William Clough & Hezekiah Spruill be appointe to audite the accounts between the executors & the estate of Mourning Arnold deceased & make return to next court.
July Session 1811
Hezekiah Spruill returned in court the audited accounts of the estate of Mourning Arnold deceased with Hezekiah Arnold executor and find a ballance due the said Hezh. Arnold of 39 pounds, 7 shillings & 10 pence filed.

Summons dated the 4th Monday of June 1807 and issued 1 Sep {blank} for Priscilla Arnold Nancy Arnold & Benjamin - - - - - - - - - to appear at next term to answer unto Hezekiah Arnold acting executor of Morning Arnold of a plea wherefore they have broken certain covenants entered into with the said Hezekiah to his damage two hundred pounds.
Summons dated the 1st Monday of July 1808 and issued term time in July 1808 for Hezekiah Spruill of William and Urijah Phelps to appear at court on the first Monday in August to testify on behalf of Jesse Spruill Henry Starr & Joseph Arnold in a suit on a disputed will wherein Jesse Spruill and others are plaintiffs and Hezekiah Arnold executor of M. Arnold is defendant. {Note that Jesse Spruill married Mary Arnold in 1785 and Henry Starr was the second husband of Sarah Arnold, so all the plaintiffs have Arnold connections.}

Mourning Arnold was the wife of Joseph Arnold Senr. who died in 1800. Refer to his will for more information.
Since Mourning Arnold cites her six children as Prissy, Nancy, Hesekiah, Benjamin, Asia & Amelia in her will, it is likely that
William, Joseph and Sarah are children of Joseph Arnold Senr. by a previous marriage. Mary Arnold a daughter of
Joseph Arnold Senr. cited in his will is not mentioned in the will of Mourning Arnold.
