May 11, 1818
In the name of God Amen. I, Mary Banks of the county of Tyrrell, North Carolina, being in a low state of health of body, but of sound mind and understanding, calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all mankind once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament.
1st my soul to the hands of God who gave it me and my boddy to the earth from whence it came to be burried in a Chistian like manner. And as touching worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with I dispose of it in the following manner, viz.
Item 1st. I leave as much of my property to be sold at the discretion of my executors as will pay all my honest debts to be sold at six months credit -
Item 2d. I give unto my son John Banks one hand saw, two turner chisells, 1 pair iron wedges, one razor hone to him and his heirs for ever.
Item 3d. The resedue of my property I leave to be equally divided between my five daughters namely Jerusha Meekins, Sarah Cohoon, Nancy Cohoon, Mary Balanga & Patsey Banks, to them and their heirs for ever.
The intent and meaning of this will is in as ample a manner and effect as the learned in law could advise and I hereby nominate and appoint my son John Banks and Joseph Meekins my lawfull executors of this my last will and testimoney. Signed and sealed this eleventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & eighteen.

witnesses sign as concurrent evidence thereto.

The last will & testament of Mary Banks was exhibited into open court & proved by the oath of William Meekins & filed.
John Banks & Joseph Meekins came into open court & qualified to the last will and testament of Mary Banks deceased in due form of law.
October Session 1818
Inventories & accounts of sales of the estates of Mary Banks, Joseph Crane, William Howett, of the orphans of Corbin Jones deceased & Joshua Powers deceased was returned proved in open court & ordered to be filed.

Gibson security.
The 1833 will of Joseph Meekins establishes that his wife was Jerusha Meekins, daughter of Mary Banks.
