I, John Gray Blount, of the Town of Washington and County of Beaufort, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, desirous of disposing of my real and personal estate in such manner as to render the property of my children as nearly equal as possible and at the same time to prevent any misunderstanding among them, do make and ordain this as my Last Will and Testament hereby expressly revoking all others by me made heretofore.

Item - I wish all my just debts to be paid as soon as possible and to enable my executors to do so they are hereby authorized and required to sell any parts of my estate either real or personnal they may think proper and in any manner they may desire most to the interest of my estate.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my grandson William Blount Rodman, his Executors and Admrs. negro woman Mary and her children.

Item - I give unto my daughter Lucy Olive Blount, her Executors and Admrs. a negro girl names Lucindia.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Harvey Blount, his heirs and assignees all the lands I purchased from Eborn and wife, Samuel Young, Thomas Trotter and John Bonner near the town of Washington and bounded on one side by the public road to Bath.

Item - As it is my wish that all my children shall inherit an equal part of my estate, it is my will and desire for my estate to be divided into six equal parts by my Executors. Including that property which I have heretofore given to any or all my children, estimating such property at its value at the time I gave it to them.

Item - To my children Thomas H. Blount, John G. Blount, William Augustis Blount, Lucy Olivia Blount and Patsy Baker Blount; I give and bequeath to each of them and their heirs, Executors and Admrs. one sixth part and to my Executors herein after named, their Executors and assignees the remaining one sixth part in trust. As soon as either William Blount Rodman, Mary Marcia Rodman, or Mary Olivia Rodman, the children of my daughter Polly Ann Rodman or the survivor or suvivors of them shall arrive of age, then the sixth part set aside as trust shall be divided among them. During their said minority they shall be supported and educated from the profits arriving from the said share so allotted for their use as equally as possible. If all of said children should die before either of them become of age then the one sixth part shall equally be divided between my children, their heirs, Executors and Administrators.

Item - I give and bequeath unto William W. Rodman any balance he may owe me or shall stand charged on my books at my Death.

I hearby constitude, make and appoint my three sons Thomas H. Blount, John G. Blount, and William A. Blount my only Executors to this my last Will and Testament.

The will of John Gray Blount was exhibited in open court and the due execution of it proved by Thomas H. Blount and William A. Blount, the Executors therein named. Therefore, it was duly proved, according to Law by Thomas A. Demille and James Ellison the subscribing witnesses.

The foregoing papers written purporting to be a copy of the last Will and Testament of John Gray Blount, which said Will was probated in Beaufort County at February Term1833 and duly certified by George A. Paul, Clerk of Superior Court under the seal of the said County was this day offered for probate in the County of Tyrrell.

It appearing that the said testator died seized of lands in the County of Tyrrell in the State of North Carolina. It is adjudged that the said paper writing is a true copy and it is ordered it be admitted to probate and recorded in the County of Tyrrell.
