September 19, 1792
In the name of God, Amen; I Jacob Blount of the county of Tyrrell and state of North Carolina, being in perfect sound, mind & memory thanks be given to almighty God, for the same, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed once for all men to die, do therefore recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God that give it, and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named, and touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of in manner & form following -
Imprimis - My will and desire is that all my just debts be paid -
Item - I lend unto my loving wife Easther Blount, one negro wench Thenia Grace by name, one bed &
furniture during her natural life, and at her decease to return to my three children, to wit, Tommy, Sally
and Nancy Blount, the said negro wench and her increase together with the bed & furniture to be equally divided
among them & their heirs forever and in case either of my said children should die before they come to lawfull age or
day of marriage my will & desire is that the survivor or survivors should inherit the deceased child or childrens part -
Item - I lend unto my loving wife Easther Blount during her widow hood or as long as she remains my widow, all the rest of my estate, not already given to enjoy every part & parcel of my said estate as long as she continues my widow, and at the day of her marriage, my will and desire is that that part of my estate which I have lent my loving wife her widow hood or as long as she remains my widow, shall revert to my three children to wit: Thomas, Sally and Nancy as mentioned to be equally divided among them and in case either of my said three children should die before they come to lawfull age or day of marriage, my will and desire is that the deceased child or childrens part should be possessed by the surviving child or children equally to them and their heirs forever -
Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Elizabeth Cannady wife of Richard Cannady ten shillings as a bar against any other part or parcel of my estate -
Lastly - I do hereby constitute and appoint & ordain my loving wife Easther Blount executrix and my loving brother William Blount & my trusty friend Thomas Mackey my executors of this my last will & testament, revoking & disannulling all other will or wills, legacies or bequeaths, now allowing this only to be my last will & testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 19th day of September 1792.
