Dated 19 March 1878
I Affy Brickhouse of Aligator Township of the county and state aforesaid being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testimony in manner and form following That is to say That my executor hereafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my Just debts howsoever and to whomever owing out of the money that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate. I hereby empower my executor to sell at public or private sale as he may think bet all of my chattle property of every description to equally divide the remainder of the estate between all of my heirs at law. and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends and son Franklin L Brickhouse my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other will and Testaments by me heretofore make. In witness whereof I the said Affy Brickhouse do hereby set my hand and seal this 19th day of March 1878.

A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Affa Brickhouse Decd is exhibited before me the undersigned Judge of Probate in and for Tyrrell County by F. L. Brickhouse the executor therein named and the due execution thereof by the said Affa Brickhouse decd was proved by the oath and examination of R M Holaway and E. L. Brickhouse the subscribing witnesses thereto. Who being duly sworn depose and say each for himself that he is a subscribing witness to the paper now shown him purporting to be the last will and Testament of Affa Brickhouse. That the said Affa Brickhouse in the presence of each of them subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing. (?) Is now shown then as aforesaid and bearing date of March 19th 1878. That said Affa Brickhouse Testator aforesaid did at the time of subscribing his name declare said paper writing here exhibited to be her last will and testament and at her request they didi in her presence and in presence of each other subscribed their names as attesting witnesses thereto. That at the time when the testator subscribed her name to said last will and testament and the time of subscribing their names as witnesses thereto said Affa Brickhouse was of sound mind and memory and of full age to execute a will, and not under any restraint to the knowledge information and belief of these deponants and further these deponants saith not.
