Dated 8 March 1886
I John Brickhouse col of Columbia Township of Tyrrell Co. and State aforesaid being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existance, do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
That is to say First - that my executor hereinafter names shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives & friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and to whosoever owing out of the monies that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate.
Item I give and devise to my beloved wife Annis Brickhouse all of my chattel property of every description during her natural lifetime, then to be equally divided among my heirs at law with Edgar Davenport and Elizabeth Tarkinton including as heirs with my children.
I give and bequeath to Edgar Davenport ten acres of land beginning at the main road near the corner of D. D. Brickhouse's fence in a line running the main road, to what is known as the Sam Key tract, running an eastwardly coast so as to include ten acres to the back line.
I give and bequeath to my wife Annis all the ballance during her natural lifetime and then to my heirs at law. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Warren Brickhouse my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning ot the same and every part and clause thereof here revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.

This 8th day of March 1886.

In the matter of the last will and testament of John Brickhouse Before T.L. Jones Clerk
A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John Brickhouse (col) with the names of Jos. G. Brickhouse and Edgar Davenport as subscribing witnesses and with Warren Brickhouse named therein as executor and bearing date of March 8th 1886 is exhibited by the said Warren Brickhouse for probate and concerning the execution of the same. The said Jos. G. Brickhouse and Edgar Davenport being duly sworn say and each for himself says that on the 8th day of March 1886, they each saw the said John Brickhouse sign the said paper writing above described & now before the court. And heard him declare the same to be his last will and testament and that at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other they signed the same as subscribing witnesse thereto, and they also believe at that time the said John Brickhouse was of sound mind and memory and capable of making a will.
