I Mary B. Brown of the State and County aforesaid being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existance do make and declare this my last will and testament.
First my executor herein after names shall give my body a decent and simple burial. And pay all my funeral expenses together will all my just debts out of the first money that may come in to his hands belonging to my estate.
Item I give and bequeath to my niece Mary Johnson Pettigrew all my jewelry and silver except a stone cameo set of jewelry which with an ambrotype of their father I give my (? sisters) daughters Mrs. Josephine Tidball and Mrs. Willis A. Stokes.
Item All my lands notes books pictures and all other property of every kind except what is disposed of as aforesaid. I give devise and bequeath to my sister Mrs. J. Caroline Pettigrew during her life and at her death to my nephew Charles Lewis Pettigrew and his heirs and to those of my nieces the children of the said J. Caroline Pettigrew who are unmarried at her death jointly as long as the said nieces remain unmarried and upon the marriage or death of any of said nieces the share of such niece shall go over jointly to the remaining survivors designated in this.
Item Remainder to the said Charles Lewis Pettigrew and to his heirs forever.
Item I give to my brother Rev. William S. Pettigrew an ample support during his life if he shall need it. At his death a suitable burial his remains to be placed in the cemetary at Bonasno according to his express wish if it be possible. I give this item to be a charge upon the income of my estate.
I hereby constitute my nephew Charles Lewis Pettigrew my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intents and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof and hereby revoking and declaring void all other will and testament heretofore made. A paper purporting to be the last will and testament of Mary B. Brown deceased is exhibited before me the undersigned Clerk of Superior Court of said County by C. L. Pettigrew the executor therein mentioned and the due execution thereof by the said Mary B. Brown by the oath and examination of L. H. Woodson and M. H. Ward the subscribing witnesses thereto, who being duly sworn and say and each for himself deposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witnesses to the paper writing now shown him purporting to be the last will and testament of Mary B. Brown. That the said Mary B. Brown in the presence of the deposant subscribed his name at the end of the said paper writing which now shown as aforesaid and which bears date of the 15th day of February 1887.
And deposant further saith that the said Mary B. Brown the testator aforesaid did at the time of subscribing her name as aforesaid declare the said paper writing so subscribed by her and exhibited to be her last will and testament and this desposant did thereupon subscribe his names at the end of said will as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and in the presence of the said testator and this desponent further saith that at the said time when the testator subscribed her name to the said last will as aforesaid and at the time of desposant subscribing his name as an attesting witness thereto as aforesaid the said Mary B. Brown was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a will and was not under any restraint to the knowledge information or belief of this desponant.
And further these desponents saith not.
