Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
July Session 1801
Ordered that Capt. John Bateman be appointed guardian to Benjamin Bateman, also Joseph Bateman and Daniel Bateman came into court and chosed the said John Bateman their guardian who entered into bond in the some of 2,000 pounds Richard Davis and Levi Bateman securities.
October Session 1801
Capt. W. Hathaway returns the platts and division of land between the heirs of Nathan Bateman deceased ordered registered.
January Session 1802
On application to the court by all the heirs of Nathan Bateman it is ordered that the partition of the lands of the said Nathan Bateman deceased made in pursuance of a judgement of this worshipful court for that purpose be set aside and that the Sheriff summons Charles Spruill Esqr. Benjamin Spruill son of Benja. Richd. Davis John Swain & Zebulon Tarkenton to go upon the premises mentioned in the petition of the heirs of the said Nathan Bateman and make partition thereof and make return to the next court.
January Session 1803
Ordered that the order made in persuance to a petition filed by the heirs of Nathan Bateman deceased for a partizen of land be revised and James Hoskins Zebulon Tarkinton Richard Davis Jesse Alexander and Benjn. Spruill Esqr. be appointed as freeholders to divide said land.
October Session 1805
Ordered that Jno. Swain George Wynne Benjamin Spruill Junr. Robert Wynne Zebulon Tarkinton be appointed commissioners to divide the land of Nathan Bateman deceased among the representatives of said deceased.
January Session 1806
John Swain returned in court a division of land belonging to Nathan Bateman deceased filed.
May Session 1808
Ordered that Joseph Ansley Esqr. Hezekiah Spruill Hezekiah Jennett Zebulon Tarkinton & Bennett Armstrong be appointed commissioners to divide a piece of juniper swamp among the heirs of Nathan Bateman deceased which swamp was the property of the said Nathan Batman and make return to next court.
December Session 1810
William Clough returned in court a platt of land laid off to the heirs of Joannah Batman widdow of Nathan Batman deceased filed.
July Session 1812
On motion ordered that execution issue in favour of Joseph Bateman against Benjn. & Levi Bateman executors of John Bateman administrator of Nathan Bateman for 21 pounds, 12 shillings & 9 pence with interest from the 15th July 1797 till paid that sum being the proportionable part of 238 pounds allotted to Joseph Bateman of his deceased fathers property agreeable to commisioners report of July 15th 1797. The above Levi & Benjn. Bateman being present and not objecting to the above order. The above to issue vs the estate of John Bateman in the hands of his executors.

Petition February Term 1809 by John Batman Levi Batman Joseph Batman Benjamin Batman Daniel Batman Esther who has intermarried with Aron Spruill & Joana Batman. They say that Joana Carswell, the mother of the petitioners, in consequence of her marriage to Nathan Bateman deceased, the father of the petitioners, was seized and possessed of 22 acres joining Hezekiah Spruill and others in which they are entitled to equal shares divided among the said heirs at law of Joana Carswell, since intermarried with Nathan Batman.
Division of the estate of Nathan Bateman on 15 Jul 1797, the estate amounting to 238 pounds and divided equally among Joanah Bateman widow of Nathan Bateman, the heirs of Ann Paggitt deceased, John Bateman, Levi Bateman, Ester Spruill, Joanah Bateman, Mary Bateman, Sarah Bateman, Joseph Bateman, Daniel Bateman and Benjamin Bateman.

securities; also the marriage of King Spruill to Esther Bateman on 25 Jul 1793, Nathan Bateman security. From the will of Matthew
Caswell in 1754, it would appear that Joanna Caswell, wife of Nathan Bateman, is his daughter.
