Be it remembered that I, Ludford Cohoon, of the County of Pasquotank, in the State of North Carolina, now in the enjoyment of health and sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this a paperwriting to contain my last Will and Testament, To Wit:

First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Roda Caroline, all my personal estate of every kind and class whatever, to her and her heirs forever.

Second, I loan to my beloved wife, during her life, the use, and benefit of all my Real property, embracing al my Town property in Elizabeth City, my lands in Pasquotank and Tyrrell Counties.

Third, After the death of my wife, I give and bequeath to the children of my son, Fred F. Cahoon, born and unborn, my lot of land and improvements where my son Frederick Now lives, including therewith all the land adjoining the same known as the Peter Copes lots, to them and their heirs forever. For their support and maintainance however, my said son shall receive and retain all the benefit, uses, rents, and rising profits of the same during his life.

Fourth, After the death of my wife, I give and bequeath to the children of my daughter Alethia Jones, born and unborn, all my lands in Nixinton Township I recently bought of C. C. Pool, containing sixty acres, to them and their heirs forever. Nevertheless for their proper maintainance and support, my said daughter Lethia, and her husband shall receive and retain, during her life all the uses, rents, and rising profits thereof.

Fifth, After death of my wife I give and bequeath to Catherine Eves, my grand daughter, who is the daughter of Dorcas Davenport, deceased, and my grand daughters, Ella May and Molly Woodley, children of my daughter Grizell Woodley, deceased, jointly and in common, all my lands, and swamps, situate, lying and being in the County of Tyrrell, N. C., to them and their heirs forever.

Sixth; After the death of my son Frederick, (should he survive his children and grandchildren) all the lots of land, and improvements herein devised to his children, it is my will and desire shall become the property of the children and their decendant, born of my dughter, Lethia Jones, should she have any living.

Seventh, After the death of my daughter, Lethia Jones, children (should she survive them) my will and desire is, that the land devised to her children shall become the property of the children of my son Frederick should he have any living, and their heirs forever.

Eight, I nominate and appoint my wife Roda Caroline and my son F. F. Cahoon executors of this my last will.

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, at Elizabeth City this 19th day of May, A. D. 1880.

Signed, Sealed, published and declared to be the last will of the testator, at who request, and in his presence, also in the presence of each other we subscribe as witnesses to the same.

In foregoing (and within) paper writing is this day offered for probate, viz F. F. Cohoon, one of the executors therein named when and where personally appeared. W. W. Griffin and W. J. Griffin the subscribing witnesses thereto, and on oath and examination say, and each for himself saith that they witnessed the execution of the within paperwriting at the request and in the presence of Ludford Cohoon, testator, and in ht presence of each other subscribing their names thereto, as witness. the said testator then and there did the same to be and contain his last Will and Testament. That at the time of execution of same said testator, Ludford Cohoon, was of sound and desposing mind and memory.
It is therefore ordered and adjudged that said paperwriting is proved in accordance with the laws of this State, and the same, and every part thereof is adjudged to be the last Will and Testament of said testator, Ludford Cohoon, and it, together with this certificate be recorded in Pasquotank County, and with the evidence taken herein filed.

Jennings, Clerk Superior Court of the County of Pasquotank, State of North Carolina, thereon appearing with his official seal attached, having been this say exhibited to me for probate, the said certificate is adjudged to be in due form and correct, and the said instrument is adjudged (acknowledged) proven and certified, Let the instrument, with the certificates, be recorded.
