In the name of God amen: The twenty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty - I Thomas Combs of County aforsd. State aforsd. - Being sick in body but of sound memory calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die - do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is first of all I give & recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that give it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hoping that at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. That it and touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose of in manner and form following-
First - I will that all my just debts be lawfully paid -
Item - I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Martha Combs the use of all my lands till my three sons- Jesse, David & Jonathan Combs comes of age - if she remains a widow till the time be expired - I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Martha Combs one third of my movable Estate and if my wife Martha Combs should be with child and it should live to of age I will & bequeath to the said child the other two thirds of my movable Estate but if the said child should die under age I will & bequeath it the two thirds of my movable Estate be equally divided between my three sons - Jesse, David and Jonathan Combs -
Item - I will and bequeath to my three sons Jesse, David and Jonathan all my lands to be equally divided between them. Jesse Combs to take his part of the said lands in the lower end of the Island. David Combs to take his on the land lying near to the mill, and my son Jonathan Combs to take his part at the old plantation. I say to them and their heirs forever-
And I do constitute ordain and appoint my wife Martha Combs Executrix, and Thomas Harrison Executor of this my last Will and Testament disannulling and revoking all other Will & Testaments hereto mentioned In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this 20 day of July 1780.

July Session 1781
Richard Fagan appeared in open court and proved the last will and testament of Thos. Combs deceased also Martha Combs appeared in open court and quallified as executrix to said will.
April Session 1783
Appeared Edmund Blount Sheriff in open court & exhibited the accounts of sales of part of the estates of Nathan Everitt deceased Thomas Combs deceased and Elizabeth Combs orphan of Thomas Combs deceased also the hire of negroes & lands belonging to the orphans of Henry Downing deceased & ordered to be filed - - to the amount of 109 pounds, 17 shillings & 1 pence.
July Session 1783
Appeared Thomas Harrison Junr. in open court & qualified as executor to the last will and testament of Thomas Combs deceased.
Appeared Thomas Harrison in open court and gives bond in 200 pounds specie as guardian to the orphans of Thos. Combs deceased the sons of said Combs is Jesse & David Combs & ordered to be filed - Jerh. Everitt security.

Combs, Thomas, 1780
Petition for dower by Martha Adams who was wife of Thomas Combs who died 1 Aug 1780 seized and posessed of several tracts of land. This was fought in court by Thomas Harrison Junr. guardian of Jesse & David Combs, arguing that the will of Thomas Combs denied dower. Also mentioned that Jonathan Combs died in October 1789 and her husband is now Jonathan Adams.
Division 5 Nov 1782 of the movable estate of Thomas Combs deceased between his wife, Martha Combs, and his daughter, Elizabeth Combs, agreeable to the will.
Guardian bond dated 28 Apr 1791 in the amount of four hundred pounds in which Martha Adams is appointed guardian to her daughter Elizabeth Combs, Stephen Swain & James Wood securities.
