Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
April Session 1800
An account of sales of John J. Combes estate at Halifax made by Pettergan ? Sheriff of Halifax County to which estate Thos. B. Littlejohn is the administrator was presented; ordered to be received & filed with the records of the court.
An account of sales of sundrys sold at vendue at Edenton on account of John J. Combes estate signed by the Sheriff of Chowan County was presented & ordered to be received & filed in the records of the court.
An inventory of the estate of John J. Combs by Th. B. Littlejohn administrator in addition to the former inventory returned by him, was presented and ordered to be received & filed in the records of the court.
April Session 1801
Ordered that Samuel Spruill Esqr. Paul Thoroughgood Esqr. & Thos. Hoskins Esqr. be appointed to audite and settle the accounts of Thos. B. Littlejohn administrator of John Joseph Combs and make returns to this court.
On motion of Jno. Roulhac in behalf of Thos. B. Littlejohn administrator of Jno. Joseph Combs appearing to the satisfaction of the court on inspection of the certified copy of the inventory of the said deceaseds estate that the administrator is charged with a certain schooner vessell which was supposed to be the said deceaseds property but afterwards assertained to belong to Mr. M. R. Byrd & on examination of said Byrd on oath, it appearing further that he did receive the said schooner vessell from the administrator, and delivered him back some bonds and notes, due by Mr. Thomas Irdell which he had received in part pay for said schooner and the administrator being also charged by his said inventory with with the amount of said notes by which it clearly appears that the said administrator is in part twice charged with the same it is hereby ordered that the clerk of this court do arase the amount of said schooner vessell from said inventory and account of sails.
October Session 1801
Samuel Spruill Esquire returned in court the audited account of Thos. B. Littlejohn vs. Jno. Joseph Combs and found a ballance in favour of the said Littlejohn administrator of the said Combs 124 pounds, 1 shilling & 9 3/4 pence.
