I, John B. Combs, of the County and State aforesaid, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, but realizing the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament, herby revoking and declaring utterly void all Wills and testaments by me heretofore made.

First: My executor hereinafter named shall have my body buried in a manner acceptable to my family and friends, and have erected to my grave a suitable, Tombstone, and pay the cost thereof, together with my just debts that I may die owning, out of the first moneys coming into his hands belonging to my estate.

Second: I give and devise unto my beloved son Dennis G. Combs, the house and lot whereon I now reside, situated on Main Street, in the Town of Columbia, including in this devise, the lot fronting on Bridge Street, which formerly belonged to Joe A. Spruill, Deceased, and now used in connection with, and as a part of the lot I now reside on. I also give and bequeath unto my beloved son, Dennis G. Combs, all of my lands of every descriptions, situated in Columbia Township, Tyrrell County, North Carolina, and my horse, Buggy, Car and harness for the same, and all of my household and kitchen furniture of every kind and description.

Third: I give and bequeath unto my Grand-sons, John A. Pledger and Arthur B. Pledger, One Hundred Dollars each, in full of their share of my estate, to be paid to them by my executor hereinafter named.

Fourth: I give and devise unto Arthur B. Combs, Laura L. Combs, S. M. Combs, John T. Combs, Paulene E. Leary, Lillie M. Combs and Hester E. Fisher, all of the rest of my real estate which I may die seized and possessed of, consisting of lands in Alligator Township, Tyrrell County, North Carolina Town lot and improvements there on in Oriental, Pamlico County, North Carolina, a lot in an annex to the Town of Edenton, North Carolina, Known as North Edenton, It being lost no. 16 in the plat of said addition to the Town of Edenton commonly called North Edenton.

Fifth: My will and desire is that all the residue of my estate, after taking out the devises and legases above mentioned, shall be sold by my executor, and all debts owning to me collected, and the surplus, after paying the above legacies, debts and expenses of settling my estate, shall be equally divided among and paid to my children, to wit: Dennis G. Combs, Arthur B. Combs, Mrs. Laura L. combs, S. M. Combs, John T. Combs, Mrs Paulene E. Leary, Lillie M. Combs and Hester E. Fisher, share and share alike.

It is also, my will and desire that if any legatee or devisee in this will named, should die leaving issue, then and in that event, the legacy or devise of the one, or ones dying with issue surviving, shall descend to and belong to such issue.

Sixth: I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved son, Seldon M. Combs, my sole executor to this my last will and Testament to execute the same according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and that a Bond shall be required of him.

A paper purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of John B. Combs, deceased, is exhibited before me, the undersigned Clerk of the Superior Court for said County, by S. M. Combs, the executor therein mentioned, and the due execution thereof by the said John B. Combs, by oath and examination of T. W. Jones and R. H. Spruill the subscribing witness thereto who being duly sworn doth depose and say and each for himself deposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witness to the paperwriting now shown him purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of John B. Combs, that the said John B. Combs, in the presence of this deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paperwriting, which is now shown as aforesaid, and which beares the date of the 25th day of March, 1911.

And this deponent further saith that the said John B. Combs, the testator aforesaid did, at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid, declare the said paperwriting so subscribed by him and exhibited to be his last will and testament and this deponent did thereupon subscribe his name at the end of said Will as an attesting witness thereto, and at the request and in the presence of said testator, and this deponent further saith that at the same time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last will as aforesaid and at the time of the deponent's subscribing his name as an attesting witness thereto as aforesaid, the said John B. Combs was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a will, and was not under any restraint, to the knowledge, information belief of this deponent. And further, these deponents say not.
