In the name of God amen. This to certify that I James Cooper do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament. First I Resign my body to the dust and my spirit unto God who gave it.

It is my will that my son Mark Bennett Cooper shall have after my death the Land whereon I now live. I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Margarett M Cooper her choice of my Beds & furniture. The remainder of my property after my death to be sold and equally divided among all of my heirs which are Henry Cooper, David M(?) and Livinia Litchfield, Margaret M Cooper and Mary Tweedy.

Furthermore I do make and apoint my beloved son Henry Cooper Executor to this my last will and testament signed and Sealed in the presence of us this 27th day of September 1866.

The Petition of James Lietchfield, represent(cut off)

I. That some time during the month of March 1872 James Cooper died domicilled in said County of Tyrrell, leaving a last will and testament, that Henry Cooper was named the executor named in said will and that Henry Cooper is also dead.

II. That your petitioner is the proper person entitled to administration with the will annexed all the heirs of law having intermarried in his favour.

III. That the value of said estate is about one hundred and fifty dollars and that it consists of household and kitchen furniture and personal Estate.

IIII. That Mr. B. Cooper, David Cooper, Mary Cooper, who have intermarried with one Levi Tweedy and the wife of your petitioner are the proper persons entitled under said will as heirs. And that they all reside in said, county of Tyrrell & Tyrrell & all of full age. Whereupon your petitioner prays, that Letters of Administration with the will annexed be granted here and your petitioner will (?) (?).

In the Matter of the will of
James Cooper decd
Before Eli Spruill Judge of probate

This day was exhibited in open Court for petition by James Lietchfield, a paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of James Cooper. At which time and place appeared Wm Reynolds and Charles Tarkenton the two subscribing witness thereto, who have sworn saith that the same James Cooper Executed said paper writing as his last will and testament, in there presences, and at his request they and each of them in his presences did sign the same as subscribing witness thereto. And that in their opinion the said James Cooper was of sound mind and memory, and was under no restraints to their knowledge.
On motion of Arthur Spruill attorney for said James Lietchfield, it is ordered by the Court that the said paper writing (?) is the last will and testament of said James Cooper. and ordered that the same be recorded together with this Certificate and affidavit of said James Lietchfield.
