Caroon, Joseph, 1807
Petition dated July Term 1807 by Thomas Caroon stating that his brother, Joseph Caroon died possessed of 700 acres bounded by the lands of John Caroon and others. Petitioner further shows that he, Nancy Anne Caroon, Sally Caroon, Patsy Caroon, Nevil Caroon, James Caroon & Joseph Caroon are the heirs at law of said Joseph. Petitioner prays that a commission of five be appointed and his portion of this land be layed off. Commissioners appointed are Isaac Owens, Abraham Owens, William Twiford, Zacchariah Owens & the Surveyor of the County.
Court order dated 29 Jul 1807 and issued 7 Aug 1807 directing the sheriff to summon Abram Owens, William Twiford Junr., Zachariah Owens, Isaac Owens Esqr. & William Alexander to go with John Swain Surveyor of the County upon the lands of Joseph Caroon deceased and make partition thereof among the legal representatives.
Report of commission dated 20 Oct 1807 that they have divided the lands agreeable to the petition of Thomas Caroon. Signed by I. Owens, William Twiford Junr. & Abram Owens.
Division on 20 Oct 1807 of the lands of Joseph Caroon deceased by Isaac Owens Esqr., William Twiford Junr. & Abram Owens.
Land is divided into seven plots, number 1 with a value of 20 dollars, number two with a value of 80 dollars, number three with a value of
fifteen dollars, number four with a value of 10 dollars, number five with a value of ten dollars, number six with a value of ten dollars and
number seven with a value of fifteen dollars resulting in a total value of 160 dollars. Each heir's proportional part is $22.85 and the
person drawing number two is to pay the others the difference between the proportional part and the value of the plot drawn. Plots drawn are:

Plot # 3 - Thos. Caroon
Plot # 4 - Thomas Midyett
Plot # 5 - William Dowdy
Plot # 6 - Nevel Caroon

Transcriber's Notes:
This appears to be the Joseph Caroon named in the will of John Caroon in 1791.
Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Ann Caroon to Thomas Payn on 8 Aug 1792, John Caroon security.
The will of William Dowdy in 1811 shows his wife's name was Sarah.
By process of elimination, it would seem that Patsy Caroon was married to Thomas M. Midyett.
