I Joseph Caroon in my proper state of mind wishing to
dispose of the property which it his pleased the Lord to bless me with after
paying all of my just debts.
I give to my daughter Elizabeth Ann, my negro boy Samson. I
lend unto my beloved wife Eliza my plantation and all of' my lands,
negroes, cattle, hogs, sheep, filly & Mule, my canoes all of my chattle
property, kitchen furniture, all of my provisions and crops. At the decease of
my wife I give unto my lawful heirs, all of my aforesaid property. I leave
Thos. R. Mann as executor to my will or estate. This being my last will
& testament. Signed & Sealed in the presents of us, this 6th day of
August 1862.

State of North Carolina Then was the within paper writing presented in open court as the last will
& testament of Joseph Caroon, decd. by Thos. R. Mann, the
executor therein named. The lawful execution thereof was duly proven by the
oaths of Edward Mann, Wm. M.K. Mann & Samuel E. Mann, the
subscribing witnesses thereto, in whose presence the same was executed by the
testator. Whereupon it was considered by the court that the within paper writing
was & is, in all & every part the last will & testament of Joseph
Caroon, & that it be admitted to probate & registered, together with
this probate.
