Dated 4 November 1763
In the name of God amen: The fourth day of November 1763 I John Dugan Juner of the County of Tyrrel and Province of North Carolina Planter being very sick weake in body but in perfict mind and memory thanks be to God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all.
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved Brother Aron Dugan one hundred acres land in the pine woods joining Smithwicks line I give also to my brother William one spotted Jackett and one pair of wosted stockings.
Item - I give to my brother Aron my riding horse named Derick and one beed quilt and one blankett likewise four sowes and one hundred acres of land in the pine woods where James Harrison how lives & likewise on hatt.
Item - I give to my brother in law William Himan one hundred acres of land in the pine woods likewise one horse colt and one two year old heafer and two jacketts.
Item - I give to my sister Elizabeth Dugan my owne riding mare and one feather beed and one sheet and one smal poot and one chest one one looking glass one tub one pail & piggin.
Item - I give to my sister Milly Dugan two sows and eight piggs and one sheet and hakerchief.
Item - I give to my sister Milly & my sister Ann & Rhody and my brother Josiah my land in the Island called by the name of the Ramshorns neck to be eaqually divided (between them) amoungst them I likewise give to my brother Josiah three cows and calves and all the rest of my cattle to be divided beween my sisters Milly Ann Rhaday & Josiah and likewise one beed and all my pewter.
Item - I give to by brother Aron my great coate and my best close bodyed coat and one flowered jackett & one blow jackit and one pair of blew briches also my narrow ax and one plow hoe and all the rest of my tools I give to my brother in law Himan and my brother William likewise a pare of leather briches to my brother William Dugan and likewise one coate and jacket and one gun and one hatt and my riding saddle.
Item - I give to my brother Aron my best gun.
Item - I give to my brother Himan one pare of briches likewise one hatt.
Item - I give to my sister Ann & Rhoday six chairs three to the one and three to the other.
Item - I give my part of the still to be equally divided amoungst my brothers and sisters likewise my table and all the rest of my Estate I leave to be eaqueally divided amoungst my brother's and sisters at the furetion of my Executors and I do appoint John Bennet and Thomas Reddick my Executors and I do hereby utterly disalow revoak & disannull all and ever former Testaments Will Legices and bequests and Executors by me in any wise beofre named bequeathed retifying and confirming this to be my last Will & Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above mentioned.

Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
December Session 1763
The last will and testament of John Dugan deceased was duly proved in open court upon the oath of William Hymon a witness thereto and the executors John Bennett and Thomas Reddick qualified as executors to the said will by taking the oath prescribed by law for the qualification of executors ordered that the Secretary have notice &c.
On motion of John Bennet & Thomas Reddick exr. of John Dugan deceased for sail of the perishable estate of sd. John ordered granted.
William Slade exhibited an acct. of sales of the estate of Josiah Dugan, Ann Dugan and Rhoada Dugan orphan Dugan deceased & proved the same upon his oath ordered filed.
June Session 1764
Personally appeared John Bennet & Thos. Reddick and exhibited the inventory of John Dugan Junr. deceased ordered filed.
