June Session 1766
An instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John Daly having been produced and offered to be proved the court is of the opinion that the supposed testator at the time of the execution of the said will was of insane mind & unsound undrstanding, and that the said John Daly ought to be considered as having died intestate & that the administration should be committed on his estate to the next of kin his widow which is accordingly granted she giving security in the sum of five thousand pounds procla. money which securities are John Hardison, James Gainer, James Johnston who are ?
June Session 1766
On motion of Mr. John Johnston atty. in behalf of Mary Daly for lieve to sell the perishable estate of John Daly deceased ; order granted to sell the perishable estate and to make return of such proceedings to our next court.
September Session 1766
Personally apeared Mary Daly and exhibited the inventory of all and singular the estate of John Daly deceased & proved the same on her oath ordered filed.
Personally appeared Mary Daly administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels of John Daly deceased and qualified accordingly.
Also prayed an order for sales of the perishable estate of John Daly deceased ordered granted and that they make return of sale to the next court or so much as shall be sufficent to pay the debts of the sd. John Daly.
December Session 1766
On motion of Mr. John Johnston atty. at law in behalf of Mary Daly for sales of the perishable estate of John Daly deceased, ordered granted.
June Session 1767
Mary Dayly admx. of John Dayley deceased moved the court by her atty. for an order to sell the perishable part of the estate of sd. deceased the same is granted she making return to the next court.
September Session 1767
Ordered that Mary Daly admx. of John Daly deceased have an order of sale of the perishable estate renewed agreeable to the former order and make return to our next court.
December Session 1767
William Carkeet exhibited an account of sales of the estate of John Daly deceased & proved the same on his oath ordered to be filed.
November Session 1768
Personally appeared Penelope Daly orphan of John Daly deceased and of her own free will chose Richard Brownrigg of Chowan Co. guardain of her person & estate securities {blank} in sum of 2,000 pounds.
