Bond dated 25 Jul 1837 in the amount of five hundred dollars appointing Hez. G. Spruill administrator of Henry Galloway deceased, Charles McClees & Silas Davenport securities.
Petition July Term 1839 by Patsy Galloway, widow of Henry Galloway whose husband died intestate in 1837 seized and possessed of a tract of land on Owens Lake and a fishery on East Lake. She is entitled to dower in said land and the heirs at law of her deceased husband are Caleb Galloway and Dameron Pugh and wife Mariah who reside in Currituck County. She prays her dower be set off and since the fishery can not be divided, to allot the rent thereof to her every third year.
Transcriber's Notes:
Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Henry Galloway to Darcas Cooper on 30 Jun 1804, Joseph White security; also Henry Galloway to Patty Owens on 14 Feb 1814, Uri Spruill security.
The 1850 census of Tyrrell County shows the family of Maria Pew (26), Patsy R. Pew (9), Charlotte T. Pew (5) and Damon M. Pew (3). Next to them is the family of Martha Galloway (60), Caleb Galloway (28), Washington Cowel (19) and Lindy Cowel (12). From this it would appear that Patsy/Matha Galloway was the mother of Caleb and Mariah.
