I, L. E. Holmes, of the aforesaid County and State, being of sound mind but considering the uncertainty of my existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament:
Item - My executor hereinafter named shall give my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my friends and relatives and pay all my funeral expenses and just debts out of the first monies which may come into his hands belonging to my estate.
Item - I give and devise to my beloved sister Sarah Casteen one feather bed and the covering belonging to the same.
Item - I give and devise to my beloved great nephew Clive V. Liverman one feather bed and the covering belonging to the same.
Item - I give and devise to my beloved neice I. E. Liverman and her heirs and assign in fee simple all of my right, title and interest in a tract of land in Alligator Township, Tyrrell County known as the "Henry Holmes Tract" of land, which was deeded to H. W. Sheppard and myself by my husband W. B. Holmes. My interest being one half as described in Deed Book 55 page 180, Tyrrell County.
Item - I give and devise to my beloved neice I. E. Liverman the remainder of my personal estate after the paying of my funeral expense and just debts, including any money and notes etc.
Item - I hereby constitute and appoint my trusted friend W. E. Liverman as my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof, I the said L. E. Holmes widow of W. B. Holmes, deceased, do set my hand and seal, this the day of September, 1918.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said L. E. Holmes to be her last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who in her presence and at her request, and in the presence of each other have hereto set our names as subscribing witnesses thereto.

The paper purporting to be the last Will and Testament of L. E. Holmes, deceased, is exhibited by W. E. Liverman, the executor therein named, thereupon the following proof thereof is taken by the oath and examination of B. B. Jones and D. W. Alexander the subscribing witnesses thereto, who being duly sworn, doth depose and say, and each for himself doth depose and say. that he is a subscribing witnesses to the said paper - writing now shown him purporting to be the last Will and Testament of L. E. Holmes, and that the said L. E. Holmes in the presence of this deponent subscribed her name at the end of the said paper - writing which bears the date of __ day of September, 1918.
This deponent further saith that the said L. E. Holmes the testator aforesaid at the time of subscribing her name as aforesaid declared the said paper as her last Will and Testament and further that at the time of of the deponents subscribing his name as a attesting witness to the said paper, that the said L. E. Holmes was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a Will, and was not under any restraint to the knowledge, information or belief of this deponent, and further these deponents say not.

It is therefore considered and adjudged by the Court that the said paper writing and every part thereof is the last Will and Testament of L. E. Holmes, deceased, and it is ordered that the same with the foregoing examination and this certification be recorded and filed.
