Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Huning of the state of North Carolina & the county of Tyrell that I do hereby give one half of my plantation to my well beloved wife Mary Hunings and the other half to my son George Washington and all the rest of my property to be sold at six months months credit and to be eaquely devided amongst all the rest of my five children viz. Sally Nessie Charlotte Betsey & Lowis the above I do hereby acknowledge & set my hand and seal at Norfolk November 28th in the year of our Lord eighten hundred and fifteen

Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
January Session 1816
The last will & testament of Thomas Hunnings deceased was exhibited in open court & proved by the oath of Lemuel Basnight.
Ordered that Mary Hunnings wife of Thomas Hunnings deceased have leave of administration on said deceaseds estate with the will annexed and has entered into bond agreeable to law in the sum of three thousand pounds and gives for security Lemuel Basnight and John Alexander.
Ordered that Mary Hunnings administratrix with the will annexed of Thos. Hunnings have leave to sell the perishable estate of said and make return to next court.
April Session 1816
An account of sales of the estate of Thomas Hunnings was returned into court by the administratrix to the amount of one thousand and thirty four dollars and 35/100 & ordered to be recorded.
Ordered that Col. Danl. Sawyer Saml. Spruill and William Combs be appointed to settle the accounts of Robert Holmes with the administratrix of Thomas Hunnings deceased guardian to said heirs of Robert Holmes deceased.
October Session 1817
Ordered by the court that citation issue against Mary Hunnings administratrix with the will annexed of Thomas Hunnings deceased to appear at next court and shew cause why she shall not be compelled to give new security for her administorship.
January Session 1818
Ordered that Polly Hunnings be allowed thirty pounds for two years board etc. of George W. Hunnings up to the 1st January 1818.
Ordered that Saml. Spruill Paul Thoroughgood and Selby Patrick Esqr. be appointed to audite and settle the estate of Thomas Hunnings deceased and make returns to next court.
Ordered that the above persons be appointed to settle the guardian accounts of said deceased with the orphans of Robert Holmes and make returns to next court.
April Session 1818
The audited account of Thomas Hunnings was returned to court and filed.
Ordered that Polly Hunnings be allowed two hundred & sixty eight dollars for the expense of keeping her children up to 1st January 1818.
Ordered that Mary Hunnings guardian to Sarah Unice Charlotte Elizabeth Lois & George Hunnings orphans and heirs at law of Thomas Hunnings deceased sell so much of the lands of Thomas Hunnings lying in Tyrrell County adjoining the lands of William Combs Lemuel Basnight & Henry Alexander as will be sufficient to pay the sum of six hundred thirty two dollars beginning at the line of William Combs & that the said land be sold upon a credit of twelve months bond with approved security to be taken by the sheriff.
October Session 1818
A division of the lands of Thomas Hunnings deceased was returned in open court & ordered to be registered.

Bond dated 9 Jan 1816 in the amount of three thousand pounds appointing Mary Hunnings administratrix of the estate of Thomas Hunnings deceased, Lemuel Basnight & John Alexander of Joshua securities.
Subpoena for Mary Hunnings administratrix of Thomas Hunnings deceased to appear at the next court on the second Monday in January next and show why she should not be compelled to give new security for her administration. Dated 14 Oct 1817 and issued 15 Nov 1817.
Petition July Term 1818 by Mary Hunnings, widow of Thomas Hunnings to have the land in his estate divided in accordance with his will. This tract of land joins William Combs & Lemuel Basnight.
Subpoena dated the second Monday in October 1819 and issued 12 Nov for Unice Hunnings, Charlotte Quimby, Betsy Hunnings, Lowis Hunnings & George W. Hunnings, heirs of Thomas Hunnings deceased and their guardian pendente, James Wood to appear in court on the second Monday of January next and show cause, if any, why sufficient land of their father's estate should not be sold to satisfy an execution in favor of Joseph Evans against the estate.
