Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
October Session 1788
Ordered that Silvia Hoskins have leave to administer on the estate of John Hoskins her late husband deceased and give bond in 5,000 pounds John Alexander and Abner Alexander securities, also returned on oath an inventory of the estate of said deceased filed.
Ordered that Silvia Hoskins administratrix of John Hoskins deceased have leave to sell as much of the perishable part of the estate of said deceased as will discharge the debts of the said deceased and make return to next court.
January Session 1789
John Snell Deputy Sheriff exhibits into court an account of sales of part of the estate of John Hoskins deceased to the amount of 88 pounds, 18 shillings & 1 pence ordered filed also an account of sales of the estate of Isaac Carroon deceased to the amount of 23 pounds, 5 shillings & 10 pence ordred filed.
April Session 1789
Ordered that Abner Alexander have leave of administration on the estate of John Hoskins deceased {unreadable} and give bond in 5,000 pounds Seth Phelps and John Foster securities.
Ordered that Abner Alexander be appointed guardian to the orphans of John Hoskins deceased to wit Brickston, Benjamin and Ann Hoskins and give bond in 5,000 pounds Henry Norman and Joseph Alexander securities.
Ordered that Abner Alexander administrator in lieu of ex have leave to sell the perishable estate of John Hoskins deceased and make return to next court.
Ordered that Hezekiah Spruill, Thomas Hopkins and Henry Norman divide the estate of John Hoskins deceased between the widow of said deceased and her three children orphans of said deceased namely Brickston, Benjamin & Ann Hoskins and make return to next court.
Ordered that Abner Alexander administrator of John Hoskins deceased be cited to appear to next court and render an account of the guardianship of the said John Hoskins deceased for the orphan of Joseph Whidbee deceased named Martha Whidbee.
July Session 1789
Thomas Hopkins Esqr. one of the dividers of the estate of John Hoskins deceased returns into court a division of the said estate between the representatives of said deceased filed.
John Snell Deputy Sheriff exhibits into court an acount of sales of part of the estate of John Hoskins deceased amounting to 174 pounds & 2 shillings and ordered file.
January Session 1790
John Snell Deputy Sheriff returns into court an account of the hire of the negroes of the estate of John Hoskins deceased amounting to 54 pounds & 2 pence.
Ordered that Abner Alexander be cited to next court to render an account of his administration & guardianship of the orphans & estate of John Hoskins deceased to next court.
April Session 1790
Petition of Silvia Alexander late wife of John Hoskins deceased exhibited into court by Abner Alexander the present husband of the said Silvia praying that her right of dower of the lands of her late husband deceased aforesaid be laid off for her, being read granted, ordered that the sheriff summon a jury of twelve good & lawfull men, to allot and set off to the said Silvia Alexander late widow of said deceased one third part of all the lands of which her deceased husband was seized & possessed and put her in possession of the same and make return to next court.
Ordered that Col. Hezekiah Spruill, Capt. John Wynne & Henry Norman or either two of them audite the accounts of Abner Alexander administrator of John Hoskins deceased and make return to next court.
July Session 1790
Hezekiah Spruill Esqr. one of the jury and surveyor of the court appointed to lay off the right of dower of lands of the estate of John Hoskins deceased for his widow, Silvia Alexander, wife of Abner Alexander returns the same into court returns filed.
Hezekiah Spruill Esqr. one of the auditors appointed to audite the accounts of Abner Alexander administrator of John Hoskins deceased returns the same into court & there appears to be a balance due said estate of 71 pounds, 19 shillings & 6 pence from said administrator account filed.
January Session 1791
Thomas Stubs Esqr. & Capt. James Wood auditors appointed to audite the account of Abner Alexander guardian to the orphans of John Hoskins deceased having examined the said accounts find a balance due the said guardian to amount of 31 pounds & 17 shillings & ordered filed.
April Session 1792
Ordered that Abner Alexander & Silvia his wife be cited to next court to settle his accounts of his administration of the estate of John Hoskins deceased.
July Session 1792
Ordered that Col. Hezekiah Spruill, Col. John Warrington & Major Richard Howett be appointed auditors to audite the accounts of Abner Alexander, administrator & guardian to the estate & orphans of John Hoskins deceased & make return to next court.

Ordered that Col. Hezekiah Spruill, Col. John Warrington & Major Richard Howett or either two be appointed to audite the accounts of Abner Alexander administrator & guardian to the orphans and estate of John Hoskins deceased and make return to next court.
January Session 1793
Hezekiah Spruill Esqr. one of the auditors appointed to audite the accounts of Abner Alexander administrator of John Hoskins deceased exhibits the same into court and there appears to be a balance due the said estate of 32 pounds, 3 shillings & 9 1/2 pence ordered filed.
Hezekiah Spruill Esqr. one of the auditors appointed to audite the accounts of Abner Alexander guardian to the orphans of John Hoskins deceased exhibits the same into court & filed.
On application of Thomas Hoskins Esqr. ordered that the accounts of Abner Alexander administrator of John Hoskins deceased and guardian to the orphans of the said deceased be reaudited by auditors to be appointed hereafter in the district from Scuppernong River to the lower end of the county & make return to next court.
