September 1, 1795
In the name of God Amen This first day of September one thousand seven hundred & ninety five I Edward Hassell Senr of the county of Tyrrell Planter being sick in body but of a sound & perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God calling to mind the uncertain state of this transitorry life and that all flesh must yield unto death when it please God to call do make constitute this my last will and testament in the manner & form following prevoaking & annulling by these presnts all and every will or wills hertofore by me made either by word or writing & this onely is to be taken for my last will & testament & none other -
Item I give & bequeath to my well beloved son Levi Hassell his heirs & assigns for ever two shillings current money of this state to be paid to him out of my estate -
Item I give & bequeath to my well beloved son Edward Hassell his heirs & assigns for ever one half of my cros cut saw & one half of my whip saw & one half of my juniper swamp to be equal divided between him & my son James Hassell -
Item I give & bequeath to my well beloved son Joseph Hassell his heirs & assigns for ever two shillings current money of this state to be paid to him out of my estate -
Item I give & bequeath to my well beloved son Stephen Hassell his heirs & assigns for ever two shillings current money of this state to be paid to him out of my estate -
Item I give & bequeath to my well beloved son Soloman Hassell his heirs & assigns for ever two shillings current money of this state to be paid to him out of my estate -
Item I give & bequeath to my well beloved daughter Ann Wynne one lining wheel known by the name of her mothers to her & heirs & assigns for ever -
Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Elisabeth Hassell one bed & furniture and one weavors loom and all the utential belonging to the same to her & her heirs & assigns for ever -
Item I give & bequeath unto my well beloved son James Hassell his heirs & assigns for ever the manner plantation where on I I now live and all the land belonging or joining the same one half of my juniper swamp one half of my cros cut saw & one half of my whip saw & fifty acres of lands lying at the west end of Lake Phelps one bed & furniture & one hunting gun & all my carpenders & coopers tools & farmers tools -
Item I give & bequeath unto my well beloved daughter Elisabeth Hassell her heirs & assigns for ever one mair -
Item I give & bequeath to my well beloved grand son Edward Hassell one ewe lamb to him his heirs & assigns for ever -
Item All the remaining part of my estate I give to my beloved son James Hassell & my beloved daughter Elisabeth Hassell their heirs & assigns for ever to be equal divide between them -
Item And I do hereby apoint my beloved son Edward Hassell & my beloved son James Hassell to be the soul executors of this my last will & testament in witness whareof I the said Edward Hassell have here unto set my hand ans seal
