Hassell, Anderson, 1839
Petition October Term 1839 by Sally Hassell widow of Anderson Hassell deceased who died recently leaving heirs at law Mary, Elizabeth & John, infants of tender years and without guardian. Her husband died seized and possessed of 130 acres of land adjoining Jno. M. Brickhouse & ---- Brickhouse and others in which she is entitled to dower, which she prays to be granted. Back of petition indicates John Rhodes was appointed guardian ad litem and accepted service of the petition.
Bond dated 26 Oct 1841 in the amount of eight hundred dollars appointing Sally Hassell guardian of Mary, Betsy & John Hassell, John D. Liverman & Job A. Swain securities.
Bond dated 26 Dec 1853 in the amount of five hundred dollars appointing Saml. McCleese guardian of Elizabeth & John Hassell, Tully Davenport & Wm. W. Walker securities.
Summons dated 12 Jan 1858 for Samuel McClees, heretofore appointed guardian to Elizabeth & John Hassell and also to Edna & James Swain & Daniel Hooker at June Term 1854, and failing to make returns and renew bonds is ordered to appear in court on the fourth Monday in January 1858 and make returns and renew his bonds as the law directs.
