I Mary Hassell of Tyrrell County North Carolina do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz:
I desire that at my decease my body have suitable burial and after the payment of all my funeral expenses and all debts that I may owe. Then I desire that all my personal estate of every nature and kind go to my grand daughter Ampir Hassell and for that purpose I give and bequeath to my daughter Kate Hassell to hold as trustee for said Ampir Hassell all my money that I may leave at my decease and all of my notes, accounts and other debts that may be due me. These and all of my personal estate of every nature and kind whatsoever and also the rents and profits of the tract of land belonging to me known as the Tully Wynn tract. Which I have leased to T.L.Jones for the remainder of his term amounting now to a term of five years, including the present year.
To have and to hold said moneys rents and other estate above mentioned, for the use and benefit of said Ampir Hassell her executors adminstration but subject to the following directions and limitations viz: That the said trustee is authorized and required to take said property and estate and rents and give to said Ampir Hassell from time to time in such amounts as the said trustee may think best and proper for her as her circumstance may require for her education and maintainance and when said Ampir at the age of twenty one years. She the said trustee is turn said property and estate herein mentioned including rents over to said Ampir and put her in possession and control of the same if Ampir should desire it.
I hereby appoint my said daughter Kate Alexander my executrix to execute and carry into effect this will, hereby revoking all other wills that I may heretofore made and publish sign seal and declare this to be my last will and testament this the 15th day of February 1883.

A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Mary Hassell bearing date of February 15th 1883 with Kate Alexander named and appointed therein as executrix to the same. And with the names of W.W. Walker and R.P. Felton as subscribing witnesses to the same, presented in open court by the said Kate Alexander executrix therein named and the execution of the same proved by the oath and examination of said W.W. Walker and R.P. Felton as follows.
W.W. Walker and R.P. Felton being duly sworn says and each for himself deposes and says that on the 15th day of February 1883 the said Mary Hassell in their presence signed published and declared the said paper writing above mentioned, now in court before them to be her last will and testament and that at the same time in the presence of and at the request of said Mary Hassell and in the presence of each other they and each of these subscribed their names to said paper writing as atesting witnesses to the same.
And that at the time of executing said paper writing, as her last will and testament as aforesaid the said Mary Hassell was of sound mind and memory under no restraint and capable in all respects of making a will and testament according to their best knowledge and beliefs respectively.

A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Mary Hassell bearing date of February 15th 1883 with Kate Alexander named therein as executrix to the same. And with the names of W.W. Walker and R.P. Felton as subscribing witnesses thereto is exhibited in Court for Probate by Kate Alexander the executrix therein named and the parties or persons in interest beside Kate Alexander being first properly brought into court by personal service of summons and the defendant Ampir Hassell being represented by R.S. Hassell as guardian adLitem and no answer to the complaint being filed by any of the defendants excepting said Guardian AdLitem for Ampir Hassell who answers admitting the allegations of the complaint. The due execution of said paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Mary Hassell is this day proved by the oath and examination of said W.W. Walker and R.P. Felton the subscribing withness thereto who being duly sworn depose and says and each for himself says that on the 15th day of February 1883 the said Mary Hassell in their presence signed published and declared the said paper writing above mentioned, to be her last will and testament and that at the same time in the presence of and at the request of said Mary Hassell and in the presence of each other they and each of these subscribed their names to said paper writing as atesting witnesses to the same.
And at the time of executing said paper writing, as her last will and testament the said Mary Hassell according to their best knowledge and belief was of sound mind and memory under no restraint and capable in all respects of making a will and testament.
Whereupon it is adjudged and considered by the court that the said paper writing herein mentioned and described is the last will and testament of the said Mary Hassell (decd) and at the execution thereof she was capable of making a will and testament.
It is further ordered that letters testamentary said Mary Hassell estate issue to Kate Alexander.
