Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
July Session 1823
Administration on the estate of Joseph Hassell Senr. deceased was committed to Zebulon Tarkenton who entered into bond with approved security & quallified, ordered that letters of administration issue thereon & that he proceed to sell the perishable estate of the said deceased & account for the same as the law directs.
January Session 1824
Account sales of the estate of Joseph Hassell Senr. deceased with the inventory annexed was returned to court on oath & filed amt. $28.83.
Ordered on motion that the order past at the last term to lay off a years provision to Cynthia Hassell wife of Joseph Hassell Senr. deceased be renewed & that the same persons therein named lay off the same agreable to law & make report to the next term.

Bond dated 2 Jul 1823 in the amount of seven hundred and fifty dollars appointing Zebulon Tarkenton administrator of the estate of Joseph Hassell deceased, W. B. Hodges & Daniel N. Bateman securities.
Petition September Term 1823 by Sylvy Hassell widow of Joseph Hassell who shows that her husband Joseph Hassell died intestate and Zebulon Tarkenton was appointed administrator of the estate. She prays the court will order her year's provision be layed off to her.
