State of N. Carolina: Tyrrel County- In
the name of God, I Charles Hatfield being in bad health but thank God I
am in sound mind & memory but knowing that it is appointed for all men to
die do make this my last Will & Testament 1st. I recommend my soul to God
who gave it and to such property as it has pleased God to bless me with I
despose os as follows:
1st. I give to my well beloved wife Mary E. Hatfield all of my whole
estate both real & personal to dispose of as she may think fit & proper
after my death after paying my just debts I want to be buried at Levi
Hassells’ in Washington County in the old family burying ground. I ordain
and appoint my well beloved wife Mary E. Hatfield exetrix &
Soloman Hassell executor to this my last Will & Testament revoking
all others-
Signed & Sealed in the presence of the subscribing witnesses this 15th.

will of Charles Halfield by the subscribing witnesses thereunto &
ordered to be registered-
