January Session 1819

Administration on the estate of Ann Howett was committed to Richd. Howett who entered into bond in the sum of two thousand pounds William Meekins & William Spruill securities, ordered that letters of administration issue thereon & that he proceed to sell the perishable estate of said deceased & account for the same as the law directs.

April Session 1819

An account of sales & inventory of the estate of Ann Howett deceased was returned in open court on oath by Richd. Howett administrator & filed same time returned the account sales of three negroes belonging to said estate amount $832.00 & filed.

July Session 1821

Ordered that Edmond Alexander Enoch Hasell & Mathew Brickhouse Senr. be appointed to audite & settle the estate of Ann Howett with her administrator & make report to next term.

January Session 1822

Ordered that Edmund Alexander Enoch Hassell & Mathew Brickhouse Senr. be reappointed to audite & settle the estate of Ann Howett with the administrator & make report to the next term.

April Session 1822

Report of auditors on the estate of Ann Howett was returned to court with a ballance due the estate of $946.50 1/2 cents & filed.

Howett, Ann, 1818


Bond dated 12 Jan 1819 in the amount of two thousand pounds appointing Richard Howett administrator of the estate of Ann Howett deceased, William Meekins & Wm. Spruill securities.

Petition January term 1819 by Richard Howett, Allen Howett and the heirs of William Howett Patsy Betsy & John Howett by their guardian and next friend Richard Howett heirs at law of Ann Howett deceased. Ann Howett departed this life leaving Richard, Allen & William Howett her heirs and William Howett has since died leaving children Patsy, Betsy & John who consequently become entitled to his share of Ann Howett's estate. Ann Howett died entitled to three negroes in her own right, Robin, Cooper & Ruth. A division of these negroes can't be made due to the great difference in their respective values. Petitioners pray that the court order the sale of the negroes and that a division of the proceeds be made according to law.
