October 10, 1792
In the name of God Amen the 10th day of October 1792 -
I Dempsey Jackson of the county of Tyrrel in the state of North Carolina being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God - Therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in desent Christian burial at the discreation of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the folowing manner and form -
Imprimis I lend to my beloved wife Darcus Jackson three hundred and forty acres of land on the east side of Grate Alligator River and between Milltail Creek and Whissing Creek to be laid off to her by Samuel Jackson on any part of the land where he may think to be most convenient for her to be possed by my wife duran her natural life -
Item I give and bequeath to my son Simon Jackson the above mentioned that and hundred and forty acres of land at the deceas of my wife to him and his heirs and assigns forever -
I give and bequeath to my four sons James Jackson Jesse Jackson Asa Jackson and Malika Jackson thirteen hundred and sixty acres of land lying on the east side of Grate Alligator River and between Milltail Creek and Whissing Creek in Tyrrel County to be equally divided between my four sons Jesse James Asa and Malika Jackson to them and their heirs and assigns forever -
And if either of my above mentioned sons should refuse to except of the said tract of land and settle and improve the same then in that case I give the said tract of land to those whom shall settle and improve the same -
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy McCree (?) one hundred and fifty acres of land on the east side of Grate Alligator and between Milltail and Whissing Creek in the county of Tyrrel to her and her heirs and assigns forever also I give to my daughter Nancy one feather bed and furniture which shall be her mothers choias -
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Luranah Jackson one hundred and fifty acres of land lying on the east side of Grate Alligator River and between Milltail and Whissing Creek in the county of Tyrrel to her and her heirs and assigns forever also I give to my daughter Luranah one feather bed and furniture which shall be her mothers choias -
I give and bequeath to my son Jesse Jackson seventy two acres and a half of land whereon my son Jesse now lives in Pasquotank County to him his heirs and assigns forever -
Item I give and bequeath to my son Simon Jackson one negroe boy named Soney at my wifes marrage or death to him and his heirs and assigns forever -
Item It is my will and desire that all my debts should be paid out of my outstanding debts by my executors and the remainder of the money arising from my outstanding debts when collected to be used to purchase a good negroe woman for my daughter Luranah -
Item It is my will and desire that all my cattle in Pasquotank County should be sold at the discretion of my executors -
Item I lend to my well beloved wife Darcus Jackson all the remander part of my estate duran her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marrage to be equally divided between my five sons and my two daughters afore mentioned to them and their heirs and assigns forever -
Item It is my will and desir that the part of my estate left in the possission of my wife should be and remain in the county and not to be transported to any other county whatever -
Item And I likewise constitute make and ordain Samuel Jackson and my son James Jackson my sole executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testament wills legacies and bequeaths and executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written -

Appeared personally in court Hesakiah Spruill & made oath on the Holy Evangelists of almighty God that he saw and
heard Dempsey Jackson within named sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the within instrument of writing to
be his last will & testament & at that time he was of sound, disposing mind & memory & at the same time he saw
John Tweedy & Jesse Davis subscribing witnesses sign their names thereunto & further saith not
