Jones, Sarah, 1825
Bond dated 26 Oct 1825 in the amount of three hundred dollars appointing John Jones administrator of the estate of Sarah Jones deceased, Abel Sawyer & Matthew Brickhouse securities.
Warrant dated 10 Feb 1827 for John Jones administrator of Sarah Jones deceased to appear before William Alfred or some other Justice to answer the complaint of Polly Cohoon in a plea of debt by legacies left her by her grandfather John Poole in the sum of ten dollars. Witnessed by Sarah Wetherly & Hagar Brickhouse.
There are several notes in 1827 & 1828 indicating partial payment by John Jones to Polly Cohoon.
Petition April Term 1833 by John Jones, Prilla Jones, Ebenezer Jones, Timothy & Jordan Jones of full age and Dorcas Jones Elizabeth & Thomas Jones infants by their guardian David Cohoon guardian to Dorcas & Elizabeth Jones and John Jones guardian to Thomas Jones say that Sarah Jones the sister of your petitioners died and was entitled to an equal undivided share of four negroes. Petitioners pray for a sale of the four negroes in order to make distribution among the heirs.
Transcriber's Notes:
See the will of Timothy Jones in 1831. It would appear that Sarah was his daughter, as all the siblings in the will and this file match. However, Sarah is a legatee in the 1831 will and this Sarah died around 1825. It is possible this file refers to two different persons named Sarah Jones. Perhaps mother & daughter?
