In the name of God amen: I Zebulon Kemp of the County & State aforesaid being convinced of the certainty of death do make this my last will & testament in manner & form as follows, that is to say.
I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Silphy Daily five dollars in money.
Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah Berry five dollars in money
I also give and bequeath to my daughter Chloe Swain one dollar.
I also give and bequeath to my daughter Deriction Etherdge one dollar.
I also give and bequeath to my son Wm. Kemp one bead and furniture and all my waring apparel.
I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Kemp during her natural life or widowhood one bead and furniture its choice. After paying all my just debts I leave my wife sufficnt to support her during her life or widowhood while she stays in this County & if she moves I give her thirty dollars.
I leave my son Wm. Kemp & Gilbert Brickhouse executors to this my last will and testament after settling my estate I give the remainder if any to my son William Kemp I wish my executors to see that my wife is taken care of.

Kemp, Zebulon, 1837
Petition April Term 1837 by Elizabeth Kemp, widow of Zebulon Kemp, who says that her husband departed this life having duly published his last will and testament which appointed Gilbert Brickhouse his executor who proved the same at the last term of this court on the fourth Monday in January 1837 and qualified thereto as executor. Petitioner appeared in open court at the present term of this court and entered her dissent to said will and the same dissent hath been entered of record whereby petitioner has become entitled to have a year's provisions layed off and set apart for the use of herself and family & also a bed and its necessary furniture, loom wheel and cards if on hand according to act of assembly. Petitioner prays an order that a year's provision if on hand be set apart to her or the value thereof assessed to her and ordered to be paid by the said executor.
Laying off of a year's provision to Elizabeth Kemp, wife of Zebulon Kemp deceased, on 29 Jun 1837 by Jos. Halsey, N. A. Brickhouse, Saml. Rogers & T. H. Alexander.

The 1817 will and estate papers of Asa Etheridge show that Olive Etheridge was the widow of Asa Etheridge.
The 1850 census of Tyrrell County shows Tamor Kemp (48) as head of household with Angelico Kemp (16), Penelope Kemp (14), Zebulon Kemp (14), Washington Kemp (7), John W. Davis (26) & Frances A. Davis (23).
The 1850 census of Tyrrell County shows Asa Etheridge (37) as head of household with Directer Etheridge (38), Sarah A. Etheridge (12), Mary F. Etheridge (9), Dorcas Etheridge (7), Joseph Etheridge (4), Samuel Etheridge (11 mo.) & Elizabeth Alexander (22).
