Lamb, Gideon, 1836
Bond dated 26 Jan 1836 in the amount of five hundred dollars appointing Matthias Owens administrator of the estate of Gideon Lamb deceased, Silas Davenport & William Spruill securities.
Petition July Term 1836 by Julia Lamb widow of Gideon Lamb deceased stating that the said Gideon died intestate seized and possessed of a tract of about 50 acres bounded by Mrs. Hooker, William Spruill & Uriah Spruill and petitioner is entitled to her dower in this land. Petitioner further shows that Matthias Owens obtained administration upon the estate of said Gideon Lamb. Prays that her dower will be set off to her.
Petition January Term 1836 by Julia Lamb requesting that her year's allowance be set off to her from the estate of her deceased husband, Gideon Lamb.
Court order at January Term 1836 that Silas Davenport, James A. Spruill Esq., Uriah Spruill & Wm. Spruill lay off and allot to Julia Lamb widow of Gideon Lamb a years allowance out of the estate of her deceased husband.
Laying off of the year's allowance of Julia Lamb widow of Gideon Lamb deceased on 29 Mar 1836.
Petition April Term 1836 by Matthias Owens administrator of Gideon Lamb who states that he administered as a creditor upon said Lamb's estate at January Term 1836 and that said Lamb owed him about $110 by note and his personal estate was insufficient to give his wife her year's allowance. Petitioner further shows the court that said Lamb died seized of fifty acres of land more or less adjoining petitioner, Will Spruill & Uriah Spruill. He therefore requests that process issue to Wilson & William Lamb infants & heirs at law to appear in court and give cause, if any, why said land should not be sold to satisfy said debt.
Summons dated the fourth Monday in April 1836 for Wilson & William Lamb to appear at court on the fourth Monday in July next to show cause, if any, why the petition of Matthias Owens administrator of Gideon Lamb for the sale of his land should not be granted.
