In the name of God amen: I James Long, Senr. of the County of Tyrrell in the State of North Carolina being in perfect understanding and memory thanks be to God for the same but considering the transitoriness of life the uncertainty of death and also the possibleness of the same do make constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament in manner and following first as to soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and as to my body I desire it may be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter to be named and as to that worldly Estate goods and possessions with which it hath pleased God to bless me I dispose of as follows.

Imprimis - I lend to my well beloved wife Rebecca my house and plantation, whereon I now live and all my household goods of every kind whatsoever and plows hoes axes and all my tools of every kind and all my stock of horses cattle sheep and hogs during the time she continues my widow - And after her death or marriage I give and bequeath to my two sons Daniel and Simeon Long, my plantation where I now live to be equally divided between them running a line in the midst from the sound side out back.

Item - I give to my son James Long one shilling sterling as a bar against any other part of my estate.

Item - I give to my daughter Anne Jones one shilling sterling as a bar against any other part of my estate.

Item - I give and bequeath to my two sons Jesse and Levi Long all my tract or parcel of Juniper swamp land to be equally divided between them -

Item - Atter the decease or marriage of my well beloved wife Rebecca, I give and bequeath all the movable part of my estate to be equally divided amongst my children excepting my son James and daughter Anne -

Item - I constitute appoint and ordain Executors to this my last will and testament revoking and disannulling all former wills at any time before by me made I do hereby ratify and confirm appoint and ordain this my last will and testament this sixth day of Jany. in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven.

The last will and testament of James Long deceased being exhibited in court by Rebecca Long & proved by the oath of Edmond Howell & ordered to be recorded - also the daid Rebecca Long qualifyed as executrix to the said deceaseds last will & testament.
