Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
September Session 1755
On motion of Henry Garnar praying an order to sell so much of the perashable part of the estate of Thomas Lewis as may discharge his debts granted.
December Session 1755
On motion of John Hardison and Jacob Blount securitys of Ann Lewis for her administration on the estate of Thos. Lewis deceased praying that Henry Garnar be compeled to give new security.
Alexander McCeeb is appointed guardian of Elizabeth Lewis, Thomas Lewis, Joshua Lewis and Jesse Lewis orphans of Thos. Lewis late of this county deceased, that Jacob Blount & John Hardison security. And it is by this court ordered that the said Alexander McCabe take into his hands and possission all the goods and chattles found and that Henry Garnar deliver the estate of Thos. Lewis and Joshua Turner that is in his possion to the said Alexander McCeeb and that the said Alexander McCeeb return a copy of his proceedings to next court.
March Session 1756
Alexander McCead came into court and proved the estate of Thomas Lewis and Joshua Turner.
On motion of Mr. Charlton on behalf of Alexr. McCabe guardian to the orphans of Thomas Lewis read praying an order for sale of the perishable part of their fathers estate the same is granted accordingly and ordered that he do expose & sell the same according to directions of the Act of Assembly & that John Hooker, John Cheson & Joseph Sprowell Esqr. be appointed to divide the estate of the said Thomas Lewis deceased to & amongst the proper heirs at law on oath & that they or any two of them make a return of their division to next court.
Ordered that Richard Davenport and James Long stand as securities for the guardianship of Alex McCabe on the estate of Thomas Lewis in the room of John Hardison and Jacob Blount & that they all enter into bond in the sum of fifty pounds Procl. and that such bond be actually given before any copy of the above order issues.
Account of sales of the estate of Thomas Lewes was exhibeted and proved by the oath of Nehemiah Spruill.
March Session 1757
Alexander McCabe exhibeted his acct. against the estate of Thomas Lewis amounting to 3 pounds, 4 shillings and 2 pence. Ordered that the same be allowed.
March Session 1758
Alexander McCeeb exhibeted an acct. agt. the estate of Thomas Lewis ordered that the same be entered.
