In the name of God amen: I William McGown of Tyrrel County in the Province of North Carolina being week in body but of sound memory blessed be God- do this thirteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy five - do make and publish this my last Will & Testament in manner following-
That is to say first I give to my son Joseph McGown one feather bed and bolster and one pair of iron wedges and one old chest-
Also I give and bequeath to my son John McGown one gunn -
Also I give and bequeath to my son William McGown one gunn-
Also I give and bequeath to my son Thomas McGown one pair of steel gards and one pair of iron wedges-
Also I give and bequeath to my son John McGown and William McGown and Thomas McGown, the land whereon I now live to be equally divided between them and that they shall not sell nor make sale of the land to any person except to each other-
Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary McGown one feather bed and furniture and one chest-
Also I give to my loving wife Frances McGown the use of one bed and furniture and one desk during her life and after her death to my daughter Elizabeth McGown -
Also I give & bequeath to my son James McGown one large iron frough.
Also I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Frances McGown all the rest and residue of my goods, chattels and personal Estate whatsoever and I make and ordain her my said wife sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. Set my hand and seal the day and year here written -

Writ dated 5 Jan 1786 and issued 28 Jan 1786 for the Sheriff to take the body of William McGown and have him before the court on the first Monday in April next to answer unto Mary Templeman, administratrix if Richard Templeman, surviving partner of Neil Snodgrass and Company of a plea of debt nine pounds shillings eight pence and 20 pounds in damages.
Appearance bond dated 27 Mar 1786 in the sum of forty pounds guaranteeing the presence of William McGown & John Smith at court on the first Monday in April next.
Writ dated 6 Apr 1786 and issued 26 Apr 1786 for the Sheriff to take the body of Frances McGown, executrix of the last will and testament of William McGown deceased, and have her before the court on the first Monday in July next to answer unto Mary Templeman, administratrix if Richard Templeman, surviving partner of Neil Snodgrass and Company of a plea of debt nine pounds six shillings eight pence and 20 pounds in damages.
Execution dated 6 Jul 1786 and issued 2 Aug 1786 against the goods & chattels, lands & tenements of William McGown deceased for twenty pounds which
lately Mary Templeman, administratrix of the estate of Richard Templeman deceased, surviving partner of Neil Snodgrass and Company,
recovered against Frances McGown, executrix of William McGown deceased, for debt due and costs and charges in that behalf expended.
Undated note on rear of execution says levied on land but not sold for want of time - John Snell. Another undated note saying the sum of nine pounds,
six shillings and eight pence with interest from 1 Oct 1775. ? paid and the sum of two pounds, ten shillings and five pence ? fees will discharge the within
