Owens, Benjamin, 1805

Petition in October Term 1805 by Abram Owens administrator of Benjamin Owens deceased, who died leaving William Owens of lawfull age, Frederick Owens and Nancy Owens orphans under the age of twenty one entitled to a distributive share of the estate of the said Benjamin Owens. At the time of his death Benjamin Owens was possessed of certain negroes, to wit Bridget {unreadable} Fannie, and it is impossible to make an equal distribution. Abram Owens therefore requesta a court order to expose the said negroes to sale so equal distribution may be made and requests a temporary guardian be appointed for the orphans to protect their interests. William Owens is appointed temporary guardian to Nancy Owens.

Note dated 20 Jul 1805 wherein William Owens Junr. the oldest brother of Benjamin Owens deceased appoints Abram Owens in his room to administer the estate of Benjamin Owens deceased.

Transcriber's Notes:
The will of Adam Owens in 1802 names his children as Abraham, William, Benjamin, Frederick and Nancy. It also devises a negro to Benjamin named Bridget, who is one of the negroes belonging to this Benjamin, making it obvious that this Benjamin is the son of Adam.
