I Anna Pledger of the county of Tyrrell and state of North Carolina
being of sound mind and memory, but considring the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare
this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say first that my executor
hereinafter mentioned shall provide for my body a decent burial, and pay all funeral expenses together with
just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into his hands from my estate.
I give and devise to my son Abraham Pledger all of my estate (namely) consisting of cattle, beds, house
hod & kitchen furniture and all other property I may possess.
And lastly I do constitute and appoint my son Abraham Pledger my lawful executor to this my last will
and testament.
In witness whereof I the said Anna Pledger do hereunto set my hand and seal Aug 27th 1884.

A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Mrs. Annie Pledger
late of Tyrrell County is exhibited before the Clerk of the Superior Court of Tyrrell County for probate
by Abram Pledger the executor therein named and the due execution thereof by the said Annie Pledger
is proven by the oath and examination of J. A. Pledger and Jos. S. Pledger the subscribing
witnesses thereto, who being sworn doth say and for himself each deposeth & saith that he is a subscribing
witness to the paper writing now shown him and purporting to be the last will and testament of Annie Pledger,
that the said Annie Pledger in the presents of these deponents subscribed their names at the end of the
paper writing now shown them as aforesaid and which bears date of August 27th 1884.

And the deponents further say that the said Annie Pledger the testator aforesaid did at the time of
subscribing their names as aforesaid declare said paper writing as subscribed by them to be her last will and
testament, and these deponents did thereupon subscribe their names at the end of said will as attesting witnesses
and at the request and in the presence of the testator and these deponents further say that at the said time
when the said testator as aforesaid subscribed her name to the said last will and testament the said Annie Pledger
was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a will, and was not under any restraint to the knowledge
information and belief of these deponents.
