This first day of July In the year of Our Lord 1776.
In the name of God amen: James Perisho of Tyrrel County and Province of North Carolina being very sick of body but of perfect minde and memory thanks be to God for the same therefore knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testaments first I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the ground to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and as to the worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath in the following manner.
Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved son James Perisho one Neet hefer.
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Devotion Peresho one Neet hefer.
Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Milla Peresho one Neet hefer.
Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved son Rufus Peresho one Neet hefer.
Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved son Armsted Peresho one Neet hefer.
Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Morening Peresho one Neet hefer.
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Joseph Peresho one Neet hefer.
Imprim - I give and bequeath the rest of my Estate both reall and personal to my beloved wife Mary Perisho dureing her natural life whom I appoint and nominate hole and sole Executorx to this my last Will and Testaments and by her to be prosesed and insoyed as she shall think proper only my lands where I now dwell to be devided between my four said sons Armsted Peresho and Joseph Peresho the lower part for Armsted and the upper part for Joseph Peresho to be devided by my Executrx or just men chosen by court in case they cannot agree and it is the true intent and meaning that my beloved wife injoys the land as well as other Estate dureing her life to raise my four children on whome I have appointed hole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal *** (torn out) day and year above said.

February Session 1777 {There is a 1/2 year gap in minutes prior to this session}
Personally appeared Mr. Jos. Alexander and duly proved James Perisho's last will and testament.
Personally appeared Mary Perisho and craved an order for the sale of the perishable part of the estate of sd. Perisho granted.
February Session 1778
Mary Perisho appeared in open court & quallifiyed executrix to the last will and testament of James Perisho deceased. Ordered that the Secretary have notice that letters may issue.
