In the name of God amen: I Samuel Parsons of the County aforesaid Planter being very sick and week in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be given to God therefore calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain these presents to contain my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it to me & my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors here after named, and as touching my worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following form and manner that is to say.
Imprimas - This 30 of August in 1778 - I give and bequeath unto my well beloved daughter Sarah Parsons one cow and her increase one feather bed & furniture one iron pot one yew and lamb and their increase to her and her heirs and assigns -
Item - I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Samuel Parsons one cow and her increase one iron pot my hunting gun one yew and lamb and their increase -
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Susanna Parsons whom I likewise ordain my Executrix and Samuel Parsons Junr. and William Brickhouse whom I appoint and ordain my Executors and Executrix to her the said Susanna Parsons all the rest of my Estate together with all my bills bonds and notes of hand whatsoever to her and her heirs and assigns free and I do hereby disanul and disalow revoke and disanul all and every other former Wills Testaments Legases Executors or Executrix by me in aney, whatsoever by before mentioned willed and bequeaved ratitifying this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date above written-

Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
November Session 1778
Appeared John Snell in open court and proved the last will and testament of Samuel Parsons Junior and ordered to be registered. Ordered that Mr. Secretary have notis that letters may issue.
Major Brickhouse appeared in open court and returned an inventory of the estate of Samuel Parsons Junr. deceased on oath and ordered to be filed.
Ordered that Major Brickhouse be appointed trustee to the estate of Samuel Parsons deceased and that he sell the perishable part of said estate and make returns to next court.
July Session 1779
The petition of Joanna Phelps praying the worshipful court to grant her leave to take under her care Sarah Parsons orphan of Saml. Parsons deceased - granted, and that Major Brickhouse deliver her the said orphan.
