I J W. Pritchett of the County of Tyrrell and State of North Carolina being of sound mind & memory do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament to wit.
First all of my just debts and funeral expences shall be first fully paid.
Second I give devise and bequeath to my mother Sylva Holmes the W. T. Roughton place life time and then to my son Charles R. Pritchett & also I bequeath to them my mother Sylva Holmes & Charles R. Pritchett fifty Dollars cash.
Third I give devise and bequeath all the rest residual and remainder of my estate both real and personal to my beloved wife Martha A. Pritchett here life time and then to her children by me.
Fourth I nominate and appoint my said wife Martha A. Pritchett to be the executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 1st day of March AD 1897.

Transcriber Note: Note in left hand margin Desenting from Will (See page 278) A paper purporting to be the last will and Testament of John W. Pritchett deceased is exhibited before me the undersigned clerk of the Superior Court for said county by Martha A Prichette the executrix therein mentioned and the due execution thereof by the said John W. Prichett by oath and examination of W. E. Belanga and C C Basnight the subscribing witnesses thereto who being duly sworn doth depose and say and each for himself deposeth and each that he is a subscribing witness to the paper writing now shown him purporting to be the last will and testament of John W. Prichette that the said John W. Prichitte in the presence of the deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing which is now shown as aforesaid and which bears date of the First day of March 1897 and the deponent further satin that the said John W. Prichete the testator aforesaid did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid declare the said paper writing as subscribed by him and exhibited to be his last will and testament and this deponent did thereupon subscribe his name at the end of said will as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and in the presents of said testator and this deponent further saith that at the said time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last will as aforesaid and at the time of the deponent subscribing his name as an attesting witness thereto as aforesaid the said John W. Prichett was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a will and was not under any restraint to the knowledge information or belief of this deponent and further these deponents say not. severally sworn and subscribed this 6 day of January 1899 before me

North Carolina It is therefore considered and adjudged by the Court that the said paper writing and every part thereof is the last will and testament of John W. Prichett deceased let the said will together with the probate be recorded and filed this 6th day of January 1899.

DESENT TO WILL

Tyrrell County) Before the Clerk.
Whereas, John W. Pritchett died during the year 1898, leaving a last will and testament, in which he willed to his wife, Martha A. Pritchett, certain of his property, and a life estate in his land.
Wherefore, the said Martha A. Pritchett, wife of the said John W. Pritchett, being dissatisfied with the provisions therein made, hereby desents from the said will and claims her year's support, and such other estate and rights as she may be entitled to as widow of her late husband, John W. Pritchett, and quit claiming any and all interests under the said will. This 6th day of Jan. 1899.
